Trying to remove door side rub strip
the one that is on the outside of the door.
I've got the strip off but can't seem to remove the adhesive.
I've tried Goo Gone but it doesn't work.
Any suggestions short of a wire brush??

3m adhesive remover and a plastic scrapper, that’s the easy part. Once all the adhesive is off you will be left with what looks like a magic marker. Hard to explain but adhesive remover isn’t going to get this off. You’ll need a good compound, a buffing wheel, and a lot of time.

If your paint is black or a dark color you will have no problem getting the strip to match. On a red, metallic, or clearcoated color the newly exposed paint can be much harder to match.

there is a 3m magic eraser that goes on a drill, its a round rubber disc, works great for that, and doesnt harm paint if used properly (dont go high speed in one spot for a long time) with the angle right, it comes right off

I just tried a bunch of things: adhesive remover, citrus gel cleaner, brake cleaner, aerosol window cleaner, pb blaster, Motsenbocker's, and none of them worked. The products I used to remove the adhesive from the entire interior of the car don't touch this stuff.
I then tried Acetone, and it worked great! I put a little on a rag and gently rubbed the adhesive, it dissolved it to a point I could wipe the residue off with a second rag.
So...how bad is Acetone for car paint? It doesn't look like it is affecting the paint at all. Should I be concerned before going any farther? I only did a small 4" section so far.
I may get that 3M magic eraser just for kicks.
