Looks like a decent car, until you open the door.

INTERIOR:

There is a small crack in the dash, but otherwise it just has the normal wear and tear that you would expect. Driver side power window switch is missing.

Needs some spacers for the wheels.

This really annoys me, how come this dash's do this.

First when I got into P's I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Man, I've has Capri's and seen other dodgy cars, and no crap like this ever happen's

When these cars were new (£40ks2 cab) would you expect a dash to crack like this,
I dont think BM's or Mercs have this crap

We had an old (77) merc that had a cracked dash like this. My 93 camry's dash is also split to pieces.

I think it really depends on how the car is stored over its lifetime - if its been garaged the dash's are usually in fine condition, but if they spend a lot of time out in the sun then the uv rays kill the vinyl.

It has to be the uv, because on my camry even the tops of the door panels are split open except for one side that had some packaging tape on top of it because the power window was broken for a while. The side that had the tape blocking out the sun is fine while the others are all split open.

Mine was like that, I had to put the coverlay dash cover on. I know it's not the best looking but alot better than that.

A plastic overlay cover would fix that nicely...if done right it would be hard to tell it was recovered.

I wish I knew what the magic pill for dash longevity is. I have never seen a 1st Gen Q45 with a cracked dash and they are padded just like the 944. Mine looks and feels like the day it left the factory. It has to have something to do with the inherant UV resistance of the top vinyl layer versus shrinkage in the foam core. At least my 'new' turbo has a perfect dash and I plan to keep it that way.

My S is crackless too. I think maybe putting a UV protectant like ArmourAll might help preserve it.

Actually IIRC, this is why many dashes are cracked. In the 80's people were overzealous in threir usage of Armourall which causes many plastics and vinyl to harden over the years.

You should use something that softens, like Lexol.

HAHAHAHAHA!

The description on the ad is hilarious - how can you claim a car is in good shape for its age when the interior looks like a gutted fish?

"A picture is worth 1000 words" - how true that is!!!

I actually laughed out loud when I saw these pictures. It looks awful! How dare they not try to cover the damage and at least make it look presentable. How can anyone expect to sell a car that looks like that inside?

My dash is almost that bad... rest of the interior and paint is ok though. I want to find a dash with less cracks and rebuild it like people on the 928 forum described. It has something to do with bondo w/ fiberglass filler and texturized spray paint. Their results were pretty nice.
