I'm looking for a set of 16" Fuchs for an 86 NA I'm going to be picking up. Which ones will fit? (part or casting numbers tell the tale I presume). Additionally which size tires are the largest I can fit on 16x7's (front) and 16x8's (rear) without rubbing?
Thanks for your patience with the newbie.

951 fuchs will fit. I think 911 fuchs will fit too.
I think you can stuff 8's in front and probably 9's in the rear. 9's are quite expensive however and may not be the right offset for a 944.

You can use either the 911 Fuchs or the harder to find 951 Fuchs. You want 23mm offset. You don't need the extra clearance for the brake caliper with the 951 on the NA.
I use the stock set up for this option - 205's up front and 225's at the rear.

Has anyone here run 16x7's or 16x8's all around? Might be good as I can rotate all 4.
Additionally, does anyone have a set they are willing to sell?
2 (or 4) 16x7
2 (or 4) 16x8 ??

Didn't the turboS have 9" rears though?
245's work on 8's but to me they have a lot of sidewall buldge. I think they work better on 9's, but if I only had 7's and 8's I would probably go by what Joe said above and do the 225/245 combo. 205's are just not much rubber on the front of these cars (again another person opinion).
As mentioned before, all 16X7 and 16X8 Fuchs will work on your car. The ones with 911 part #'s will be cheaper than the 951# ones and be easier to locate as well.

A couple of years ago, I picked up a set (pair of 16x7 and 16x8) of the newer replicas (same ones performance products sells) I got them from a dealer out in CA (Fontana maybee?) for less than $600 for the set + shipping.
These were Italian made, very good quality and finish. They were cast, not forged, so they are a little heavier than the originals, but not by much (maybee 21# for the 7", 23# for the 8")
I had the 225/50 and 245/45 combination which fit well on the '84. 225's all around on the 7" shouldn't be a problem, but I never tried fitting one of those on the back to see how it would work - the offset was different (58 vs 23 mm) which is pretty much the same as the width difference, so it should be prtty much the same at the fender lip, more on the inside.

Yep... so 9's will fit. The issue is that I don't know if 9" FUCHS will fit. Not sure what the offset is for those.
I think 245's should befine on 8's. On my 9's these seem a little small really. Too bad there is not a 16" tire wider than 245 with the proper overall diameter.

951 fuchs are getting hard to find, especially the rear 8" ones. They are desirable for people doing larger brake conversions that want to retain the classic 16" Fuch look, and they are also coveted by 911 guys because they fir nicely under the front SC wheel arches when going to the 8 and 9 inch set up.
As far as pricing goes, a little research will give you what the going pricing range is for them. I would comment but it isn't my sale and I wouldn't want to inflate/deflate the pricing..................

Yes.
Late 930 Fuchs fit the NA 944 as stated.
If it's not a concourse car, I'd buy the cast replics if you just want the look.
Our own Dr. Boost has sent an original 930 set my way via cash exchange and I owe him years of servitude in addition to the check I cut. Trust me.
Now to get the 4 fockers refinished in time for Fest next year...
7x16, 23.3 ET 112mm backspacing 911.362.115.00
9x16, 15 ET 130mm backspacing 911.362.118.00
(FYI for the 951 Fuchs:
7x16, 23.3 ET 138mm backspacing 951.362.115.00
8x16, 23.3 ET 125mm backspacing 951.362.117.00)

These are 951 7&8 Fuchs (yea, I know--bad context):
