Question Shipping Recommendations - 951S Motor

I just bought a very low mileage motor off eBay (>12,000 miles). Need to ship it from Atlanta Georgia to Vancouver BC Canada on the West Coast, or near to Seattle. Any suggestions on trucking companies??

Will be secure on a pallet - a 3x3x3 cube around 500 lbs. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks!

this was such a great deal that I decided to get it - only 11,844 miles, with headers, K26-8, alternator, clutch, belts done at 7,500 miles etc. An exceptionally clean motor.

I've got 100,000 miles on my motor etc. and I did not like the leakdown test on #3. Will re & re the motor and decide what to do with the original engine.

Try forwardair. I have shipped everything from body panels to engines through them, they are great. You will have to check their location list to see where all their terminals are but they have a lot of them. I shipped a BMW engine through them across the country for about $100. They have a minimum charge of $50 but for something so large its a good deal. People ship motorcycles through them and I even saw a guy shipping a set of helicopter blades through them one time I was in there. Their website is www.forwardair.com

I've had two engines shipped to me stapped on a pallet and wrapped in plastic, no problems at all. One was shipped Yellow Freight and the other Saia.

Oh, you won that one from that rear-ended red 951? Nice. I'd offer to drive it up there for you, but I doubt I could fit it in my car, I don't want to drive the minivan, and I have school.

Yep, long drive - 2681 miles by Mapquest!! Atlanta to Vancouver BC is long slog in a minivan and I wouldn't do it! Anyway, this motor came out of the 951S that was wrecked (front end) in Cincinatti - (sheesh, that is like 2/3 way between here and Atlanta!) It's going into my 88 951S - cheaper than rebuilding the original motor for now.

Sorry Austin, I will likely rebuild it anyway and put the go fast stuff I have set aside... K28-6, Link engine management, etc. Or if I part it out, the short block is already spoken for. It's a special block anyway - M44/52 made for the 88 "TurboS" and 89+ Turbo cars so worth quite a bt more than the stock 944/11/12 block for the 944S. My biggest dliemma now is keeping matching numbers for the car.. but then they aren't worth all that much now, so maybe matching numbers is no big deal.

Check PCA-CWR as I know there are a few motors around town for sale.
