Default windshield wiper spline question (stripped)

Hey guys, was outside all evening prepping the car for Porsches 2 Oxford and was messing with my wipers as they havent been "right" since Fest last year. Well after inspecting my passenger side in daylight I can tell the spline that the wiper arm mounts on is close to being stripped and if not very tight will come loose under full speed operation. Can just the spline be replaced or is this more in depth?

Thanks...also applied tons-o-rain-x just so I dont have to use em

i wonder if you could retap it or even apply some jbweld to the threads and retap them. I "may" have a wiper arm piece from a 924-not sure if its the same. I say who needs wipers anyway, shave em.

It's a LOT easier to just replace the arm... lol Rain-x... hope we don't need THAT!

The wipers on the yellow car didnt work for the longest time, that was a beeyatch to fix. I was running Rain-X for a while. I ran Rain-X to last years fest in it. Lets just say the wipers work 127401892740981274098127408912 times better.

shim it with beer can to make a tight press fit. We used to do that on cheap bikes that had wallowed out crank arms when the owners didn't have the money to replace the damaged part. Worked great and lasted.

Sam, not sure on the 951 but on the early cars, once the splines are gone there's no easy fix other than to change out the wiper arm assembly. BTDT. You can reuse the wiper motor and arms. If you find a nice salvage one from a low miles car, you should be good for many more miles.

Default When I first got my 951 I found...

that the rear wiper was similarly stripped. After really looking closely, I found that the splines were just filled with material from the wiper arm. After cleaning the splines with a small pick I was found the splines OK, just the loose connection was allowing the splines to grind the hole in the wiper arm and fill with metal.
