Nothing wrong with my clips, but I don't see waiting for it to break, as cheap as the fix will likely be
Does your VW sunvisor fit? Mine needs Viagra (kinda floppy)

Well shoot... I've worked as a VW sales guy for the last 4 years and never made the connection!
I will say though, they do make them in black for the Jetta GLI and GTI Anneversery editions. Since some of you are already chasing part numbers, you can post your successful findings. If no luck, let me know!

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!!
Sorry for yelling but I just ordered a set of Porsche ones yesterday. Part number Please!!!!
You should have ordered up 100 and sold them on Rennlist as said. I think everyone here would have paid a premium for them.

I have one question: Do these clips help prevent the visor from sagging?
I've replaced the origonal clips with the same Porsche clips, and if they don't crumble, they still don't do better at holding up the sagging visor.

Okay, here's the part numbers:
For the clip itself (as pictured) there are three VW colours available. Here's the retail prices that they quoted me. My local VW dealership is not the cheapest, and I often hear of other people finding things at retail prices that are about 10-25% less than my dealership, but at these prices, to replace both visor clips in black, with dress covers would be less than $14...
3B0 857 561 BY20 . . . $4.68 . . . Pearl grey
3B0 857 561 BB41 . . . $5.01 . . . Black
3B0 857 561 B8YS . . . ($.?.) . . . Light Beige
For the clip-on dress cover:
3B0 857 563 BY20 . . . $1.70 . . . Pearl grey
3B0 857 563 BB41 . . . $1.70 . . . Black
3B0 857 563 B8YS . . . $1.70 . . . Light beige... this colour wasn't shown, but the last 4 characters are the colour-code, and presumable the beige ones need a cover too, so this should be the part number.
The clip-on dress cover hides the screws... I really should take a picture of them back in the VW with the dress covers on" -It's a cleaner look, -If the shiny part of the metal clip offends you, a black 'sharpie' pen should take care of it for a good long while.
The prices seem to vary with colour, but my local VW parts place says that they have pretty moch all of them in stock. I'm heading there this evening to get a black set and install them whan I get home!
Happy to share: -Good luck all!
Keith

Oh sorry, I missed the questions about the visor droop/sag....
No, it's just the clip that stops the visor swinging and karate-chopping you in the face every time you take off from a stop!
Mine droops a little (driver's side) but I've added a little stick-on velcro in two places, and it overcomes the droop. -Velcro/viagra... "velagra"
PSUice944: can you confirm the part numbers for me/us and how exactly do we get wholesale pricing?-Quantities needed?
Also, what's your dealership retail pricing for:
3B0 857 561 BY20
3B0 857 561 BB41
3B0 857 561 B8YS
and
3B0 857 563 BY20
3B0 857 563 BB41
3B0 857 563 B8YS
I'm just curious...
-My local VW place is GREAT for service. The service manager and about half of the staff call me by my first name as soon as I go in... this is after 12 years of going there, and because I take the service manager a small case of beer each christmas... I also repaired and rewired some stuff for him and -since he collects VW diecast models- each time I go back to Britain, I keep an eye out for the sort of models that you can't get in the USA and bring something back. -As a result, you wan't believe the great treatment I get any time I need something worked on... and it only costs me maybe $30 a year, but the benefits & savings have been immense! (last year I got a new Catalytic converter at 118,000 miles... it was actually kinda marginal, but I got it under the 2.0 warranty extension. -Also, water pump under warranty at 89,000 miles, and they also put the timing belt on for parts cost only while they were in there...)
Anyway, the service department is excellent, though I have to confess that parts are often 10% higher than elsewhere. -For small purchases I don't care much, but if Wholesale prices are obtainable with significant discounts, I'd be truly interested.
Many thanks...
Keith

Dude, It's part of my whole "grand unified theory of Alco-economics"
Basically, gift certificates to most stores are perceived as being worth a portion of their face value... perhaps 80% for stores like Home Depot. A $25 Lowes gift certificate makes a person feel as good as if they just got $20 cash...
As a contrasting example, booze has a "multiplied perceived value". $20 spent makes people feel as good as if you gave them $30. (non-drinkers excepted, of course!)
I have an excel spreadsheet at home which takes care of the tricky 'bistromathics' of the whole thing, but I'm hoping to reduce it to a "price/performance/reliability-of-work" matrix.
...then I'll publish a book about it, lobby to get it on the course text lists for Harvard, Duke and Yale business classes, (by buying each of the deans a case of booze each... -how else? ) and then sit back and make some REAL money on publishing royalties!
