1stvwparts.com has them for $3.67, and $0.43 for the trim cover. They are a great supplier.

I used these part numbers:

3B0 857 561 BB41
and
3B0 857 563 B41

http://www.1stvwparts.com/

They also have great prices on the Bosch wideband O2 sensor.
Thanks for this find!

Well, I ordered them from my local VW place on the way home.

It seems that they really are quite cheap on this one: -They're coming from Jacksonville, so they should be here on the Saturday delivery... -I really wanted to post pix, but someone else might be able to beat me to it!

Anyhow, $11.99 including tax for two clips and caps... I'm not complaining!

I'm don't think it's it's worth the effort of a group buy and save me the hassle of collecting money and going to the post office many times . It looks like the source listed above is about the same price when I ran a test order. I'm sure that site would be faster than me doing it. Ordering through them would be $16.15 for a set of 2 brackets and covers. I'm glad Scott posted that site and it looks like Keith got a set for even cheaper than the rate I was quoted. That being said I would say the group buy is off.

Whew! I had visions of Valve Stems floating around. lol Not that you would take the money and run, but the fact people would save only a couple bucks.

LOL I didn't want to mention the ill fated GB for valve stems but it was the first thing that crossed my mind...that one will remain a Rennlist Classic Moment for sure. I think for something that small it's better to just buy them local even if it costs a few pesos more.

Yeah... the wierd thing is the amount of price variation between dealers -even in the same markets... The two that I compared are about 10 miles apart, and one is twice the price of the other... -and yet for other random-yet-common parts, my local one can be up to 20% more expensive than the other, yet today it was half the price...

..wierd.

I'm still dying to see a picture of a set of VW clips in black on a 944/968 though...

BTW, Kuhl951, Mucho respect for those rims... -my adored favourite combo!

Keith

Bachman Volkswagen in Louisville will get them for me by Tuesday. $5.02 for the clip, $0.58 for the cover. What a great find, my originals broke and two sets of replacements broke after that.

For all you guys looking at short shifters, here's a pic of mine. I have the Performance Products short shift kit on my tranny, a B&M short leather ****.
Cut & grind the stock lever, use the slotted round **** adapter (Performance Products), cut the top part off the leather boot and lace it up on the underside
with nylon string. drilled a hole all the way through the bottom part of the **** and lever, put a small bolt all the way through it. It's about as short as you can make it. Shifts very crisply, a little harder to get into reverse, but hey, it's all about going forward isn't it ?

Wow, that's not a short shifter, that's a midget shifter!

I have the short shift linkage on the tranny and really like it. It's plenty stiff though, can't imagine what it would be like in combination with the cut off shift lever.

I hate to say this but it looks like someone threw a cold bucket of water on it.

Sorry

How much does the PP kit reduce the throw? ALso how much work was it to install?

Sorry guys, busy day yesterday!

Called my parts guy, the clip is like $5 with no real markup. Anyone charging much more is gouging. No real savings in a batch order, I'd honestly say just go local and save any shipping mess. But I know, group buys are fun!

But... the cover part number seems to be amiss as it didn't pull in his computer. No clue why, but don't be surprised if a parts guy scratches his head. I'm sure they make it and can get it. Besides, I've looked at screws all this time and it hasn't bugged me yet!

I'm sorry but that's just dang funny. I imagine Tom Cruise's 928 in Risky Business must have ended up with the same short shifter after its little swim in Lake Michigan...no cutting & grinding required.

Ok, I'm done now. The only thing that matters is that Funn944 likes it and seriously, thanks for sharing the picture and the info.

I just got my visor clips yesterday. I can't believe that someone found a better clip that actually fits. I have been using a peice of hanger for the clips since I have had the car. I can't wait to get them. I am excited about.

All 944s and 968s use the same visor clips. I bought a brand new set 2 years ago for the 944, and transferred them to my 968 when I bought it in December.

Wow, if only there was a vw part to fix rattling hatches, sunroof issues, and that F'ing NA shudder.
