Default Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep

Every time I turn my '86 944 NA off, I hear five beeps.

OK, guys and gals, what is my Porsche telling me?

I have a Sony tape deck in mine and it always beeps like that when I turn the car off. Do you have the factory alarm still? Those use a separate horn from the one that beeps when you push the center of the steering wheel, and the factory alarm horn is located on the right passenger side wheel well, I believe. If that is what's beeping, then the front turn signals should be flashing as well, from what I remember. Sometimes the factory alarm can go off if you've just driven through a puddle/water.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P2000 radio. There is a factory alarm but the key was not provided by the PO. The Porshce dealer will only make available a new key unit, not a replacement key.

The mystery continues.

The Sony decks have that feature built in to remind you to take your faceplate with you when you leave your car. If you don't want it, don't buy a Sony.

Is it your car itself that beeps, like a seat belt chime? You might have some kind of malfunction with the factory beep noise...my remote alarm system causes that beep to go once when it locks and twice when it unlocks, simultaneously with the siren beep under the hood.

Actually I have a weird problem that I've never bothered to fix...when I turn the car on or off and don't have my belt on, if I LEAN TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY SEAT, THE CAR BEEPS NONSTOP. But if I sit normally, nothing happens! Some wiring issue I think...

I have the exact same car as you, but I don't get 5 beeps! Something's strange...

And we have a winner! It's the radio reminding me to take the faceplate off. No faceplate on radio, no beeps.

Thanks

Here's a pic from the Charlotte auto X this past weekend. Car is not mine.

There's a relatively simple fix for your alarm key problem. You can take the alarm lock cylynder out and remove or re-arrange the pins to make it work with your ignition key. If you take a look at this thread, everything is pretty much covered:
