i believe pioneer does that too. I had one that was really expensive and it would beep through the speakers. It had an alarm you could set so that a siren would sound if someone broke into the car-it had little pins that went in the door jam. Loud as hell.

I had a sony in one of my previous cars that had the feature. You have to hold one of the buttons in for three seconds to turn the feature on or off. Can't remeber what button though. Can't do any harm to try till you hit or download the owners manuel from the web.

A link to the owners manual for a Pioneer DEH-P2000 would be great. Spent 30 minutes last night trying to google one.

My wife's Boxster has a Panasonic radio that does exactly that. I've been chasing this 5 beep phantom for weeks. I just happened on this thread because I have an 87 944. Mystery solved!

I think I've posted once in the last three years. Had this thread tagged for activity.

I have a Pioneer DEH4900IB which does the exact same thing. It is indeed a reminder for you to take the faceplate with you. I can turn the warning tone on or off. To do this I press SOURCE and hold it until my unit turns off. Then I press and hold FUNCTION until function name appears in the display. I press the function key repeatedly until WARNING TONE appears, then press the up or down arrows on my main control **** to turn it in or off.
I searched www.pioneerelectronics.com and found your unit, but it did not have any downloadable manuals. I'm sure your proceedure is silimilar, you just may have to try a few times. Main thing is the press and hold FUNCTION with your unit OFF. If you try it with the unit on it won't scroll through the selections.
