That is realistic..

I've been thinking of an E36 3 series....man that is a classy car...but I couldn't bring my self to sell my 944 after all this work...I've also been looking at early Z cars (240Z) ...my old 280ZX was too big... "disco" for me.

What would you guys replace your 944 with?

Probably aren't many 3k dollar cars I would replace it with, maybe a miata or something but I don't think you can get a miata that cheap. Probably would be another porsche. I've been wanting to try a bmw and a saab for a while, but that would be in addition, not a trade.

1979 930, but I could never bring myself to sell the 44. A turbo E36 M3 would be fun though as the car is a total package, just needs more power.

Id take the Magic School bus. That way I can shrink down or go back in time and have as many adventures as I did in the 944. I would, however make sure that the hood on the bus is secured down. I cant afford to have a hood fly up on a school bus, the county parents would never leave me alone!

My spoiled rotten friend recently got a 95 M3 black/tan (auto) and that car is soo nice. The M wheels are fantastic.... best part is he is 18 and still no drivers license! If i had an M3 waiting for me I would do whatever it takes to get a license!!!!

his car looks exactly like this :
lucky sob..

Man what I would do for one of those...even a 325 e36 with a few ///M additions. I wish I didn't NEED to have a p-car.

makes me think of selling my bike...but 2 cars is just too expensive....

I drove my cousin's E36 325. That six is what they hype it up to be...smooth as an electric fan, quiet, and strong. Can't complain about a real backseat, either. I've seen too many of them with fart cans and tacky rice body kits- might be a little too mainstream for me.

My dream car is an E34 M5. 315 hp 3.5L 6, real room inside, handbuilt (expert testers could tell who built each individual car- amazing), and great looks. Too bad $10k is on the cheap side for one.

For now, the Porsche is great. I've done so much work that I could almost trust it cross country. I get compliments about it frequently. Might as well hold onto it and buy a used Solstice in a few years (if they hold up).

I'm constantly thinking about this, and have researched and driven alot of vehicles. I'll assume you want to at least keep it under $20K.

For daily or close to daily driver: E36 M3, 968, 911 Carrera, maybe 928 S4, or for more money 90-93 NSX, 964, or 3rd gen Supra

For weekend toy and project car: 930 , hell any old 911, Lotus Esprit,

Even though I like alot of Japanese cars, with the exception of the NSX, they don't give off anywhere near the same classy style as the Euros do. Supras and 350Zs are hot but just don't have the mature, refined presence as the others.

For something reliable and a bit more modern while being relatively inexpensive; the E36 M3 or a 968 is the right choice. Both are perfect

Fed up with my 944S throwing a rod bearing months after installing new cams - with a rebuilt head (cam chain tensioner failed) I bought a 928. 5 years later my 944S is still in storage and I've bought a second 928.

Oh yeah, I second the Boxster. Especially the Boxster S. As Ferris Bueller once said "It is so choice, if you have the means I definately recommend picking one up"...

Well given that I've already got (although crappy examples) the 924/931/944 and I can only see a 951 or 944 S2 in my horizon. Maybe a mid-90s SL500, but that would be the daily driver while the 944s rested.

The styling and handling the 944 series is unmatched for its price range. Even given the faults and lack of power for NA versions, they are sport cars at economy car prices.
