A 944S2, 951, 911 or NSX for me. But for now the 924S and Celica work out just fine.

I haven't chimed in here for awhile guys. Here is an update - I sold my early 944.1 for a 2006 MINI Cooper S. I'm sure Dan will approve.

It really surprises' me that no one has mentioned the Cayman as a replacement. Consider the following logic (not that it has much to do with this subject anyway).

The Boxster is the current entry level Porsche, and in it's day the 944 was too. Why move from one entry level to the next? No, wouldn't it be better to move up one rung on the ladder? That would be the Cayman, unless of course you could skip the middle rung and go to the top rung, of course! Granted, the Cayman has just been recently introduced, but I figure that in about 5 years, they'd be affordable on the used market.

If you take current market realities into account, and you take into account value for the dollar, I don't think that even an elderly 944 in need of some maintenance is a bad deal. How can you get a world class sports car for around 10K total? (purchase costs + repair costs).

Yes, the BMW M cars are seductive. I plan to replace the current 4 passenger creature comfort car with a 4 door M3 (if I can find one), even if it's an old one that I can fix up and make reliable. I've been that impressed with that car, and the looks are just to die for!. Life is just too short to settle for anything less! Besides, if the 944 has any issues, I'm sure that I'll have fun with the M3 at the track! And I've been dieing to get my wife to drive a stick competently, perhaps a daily driver 4 door will get her to do so.

Oh, I remembered another car I would consider - a Celica Alltrac.

Derr Rennwagen, love the Mini, but not the mirrors. You do have a beautiful state by the way. We have been to St. Alban's twice and it was wonderful.

Thanks! Yaa, Vermont is pretty green and cool now.

The mirrors... well, the wife wanted those and the bonnet stripes. I let her have those if she let me order the LSD, John Cooper Works airbox, aero front spoiler and BBS R90 two piece rims. Since I drive it, I think that it all worked out.

Probably an S2000 or an NSX. I'll probably pick one of em up in a couple years, but I doubt I'll sell the 951 for it.

My next car is going to be an R32 Nissan Skyline, preferably GT-R, but at least a GTS-T. Man I love Vancouver for the crazy imports! :P

My buddy imports cars from Japan, ever since his Corolla Levin Trueno I've been hooked on rare imports...

968RS. Now that would be awesome. Somethig that is a bit more feasible though... I have been thinking about getting a Yamaha R1, the raven model.

I replaced my 84 944 with a 2002 E39 530i.

I need a larger 4 door car that also needed to be an auto. So I went for that. Goal was to find a car as fun to drive as the NA, but with more space and comfort. My 951S was also a gauge since it needed to be a little nicer than the than that car although not more powerfull or better handling.

So the E39 3.0L I6 proved to be a nice choice. Enough power to move quite comfortably, but still get me almost 30 mph on the highway. Enough space for the entire family. Lots of luxury and comfort and with the factory sport package very fun the twisties and really drives alot smaller than it is. Perfect combo for my needs at the time. Of course it was not super cheap, but still a better value than an WRX, or Evo. Hey I still have the 951 so no need for a rocket ship daily driver.

You have to like driving to work in this every day.

I'd love to, but I have to wear out the Grand Prix first, and it's only got 37K miles so far. Thanks for the offer.

I thought that the Skyline was a right hand driver only and couldn't pass emissions so was never imported to the US.
