Default Stupid things people have said about 944's

I was just remembering some dumb stuff people have said about 944s. This guy was pretty dumb this time.

The yellow car just randomly didnt start one time after I came out of the grocery store. I have no IDEA what happened, but I couldnt get it to start. I was tinkering around with it and some hillbilly was in a truck parked a couple of spaces down. After about 5 minutes of messing with it, he comes out and starts babbling crap. Im halfway underneath the end of the car checking the fuel pump wiring (it has been spliced before, just thought the connection came loose).

The dumbass comes out and is like "Hey check the fuel relay switch". I was in no mood to listen to stupid people, and hes like "Yeah, these POR-SHEES are like Ford Probes, they have a fuel relay switch in the back." Im like "No, they dont, they really arent like problems at all." He continued to tell me about how Porsches and ford Probes are so alike, until I stopped responding. He watched for a minute and then left after checking out my girl friend. What a turd.

A fuel relay switch. to this day that still pisses me off.

I had someone argue with me about whether my car was a flat 6 or a 4 cyl. This was in the tech line of an autocross. He refused to believe me until i opened the hood and showed him the 4 plug wires..

I pulled up to a guy in an '82 928 with faded guards red and rust on the rear quarter panels. When referring to my 944 he said, "Yeah, my son has a ghetto Porsche too."

I let him hear my wastegate open up as I pulled away!

Yeah, my ex-GF's father tried telling me it had a Subaru-type engine in it.

Everyone and his brother around here asks me if it's a turbo. They also say "my brother has one of them things, scares me in corners."

I would have kicked him in the gnads. Maybe he was reffering to "My son has a 928 just like mine too!"?

There are wanna-be owners with every model. I snapped at the owner of a well worn early 944 few years ago when he was ripping on a perfect 924 Turbo calling it a VW. Owening two 928's with open pipes I'm asked all the time how well the Chebby engine fit in place of the 4-banger.

Isn't that backwards? I thought the Suby 1.6 and 1.8 were based on the 914's design......

Subaru as in boxer...911 style.

Oh...might be. In any case, he told me I could keep my car at his house when I went off to school in the fall.

No Porsche content here, but once when repairing the fuel line on my '83 Volvo, I heard someone yell, "Buy American next time!"
