I had a guy at a gas station in Iowa ask me if my red n/a was a Viper. I should have sold it to him for $20,000. So far, that's really the only thing people have said about my car, besides that it's nice.

I too got the "I'm paying you too much" from my boss when I bought my 944.

One cool thing: I pulled into a gas station next to a boxter, and the guy starts asking me about my car & saying how nice it was, and how he misses the 944 he used to have........................

My fave was parking at a local quickie mart and watching from a distance as an alpha ricer teen led his pack on a 360 degree walkaround of my externally stock Turbo S and declared it was "pretty nice except for the cheap JC Whitney body kit and the Granny wheels."

I pulled up at one of my major customers sites, entered the office and the boss/owner (he's a millionaire property developer) storms over and looks at me with some serious *** expression and says "you can leave now, we dont want your services anymore" my 2 seconds of absolute dread were quelled, when he went on to say "we are obviuosly paying you too much, any IT guy who can afford a red Ferrari, is not welcome here"

I responded "Well, John, I see it like this, I dont charge you enough, you dont pay me on time anyway, and if you did pay me more, I would not buy a 22 year old PORSCHE, I would be buying myself a new one"

He says "Porsche, eh?, its red, I thought it was a Ferrari, looks the same, get back to what you came here to do" and walks off

or the wifes comment about it looking like an RX7 still pains me

my idiot friend (too much smokey-smokey i think) thought porsches were Italian! i corrected him... with my fist. not so much out of anger, he's just an idiot and idiots require punching on a regular basis, its how they learn.

Sir Peck. You are correct.

Some kid at a gas station said his Integra pulls on N/a 944's and he "didnt know they made a turbo versioN!!!!!"

Bullshat. The first 5 minutes of owning the yellow, I destroyed 2 integras at about 75% throttle. My mom was behind me making sure I didnt do anything stupid so I tried to make it look like I wasnt racing them., and these 2 tegras come up. Rims, exhaust all the typical ricer crap. They got their asses handed to them.

yeah.
watch out for ls and rs integras though. if you can get the jump on em...even a half second, theyll never catch you. but it works the other way around, if they gun it first, you cant catch em. lol

as for gsr, and type r's. I dont know. they all have like 20 more hp per model, but only one more tq, how gay is that. how do you make a car gain 40hp and 2 tq. LOL

I have put a lot of miles on a 2000 Dodge Caravan with a V6 and a 2003 Grand Caravan with all the goodies, and my 85.5 944 is noticeably faster than either one of them, especially at freeway speeds.

I have a lot of miles on a couple of Jeep Libertys -- a 2001 (I think) and a2006. Both are six cylinder -- the new one is a V-6, the older one I never lifted the hood. The older one was torquey at a stop light and could maybe jump out off the line harder than the 944, but once you were actually moving, it was no comparison -- 944 all the way. On the freeway, fuhgeddaboudit! Getting over 90 mph is a chore in the Liberty (or Caravan), while the 944 sails up to 120 pretty smoothly.
