damnit! I saw someone throwing away the body for one the other day- a real one- and i thought of you. I shouldve grabbed it and made a lawntractor/gator hybrid for racing. Oh well.

If anyone is looking for the Mini Z cars, go to www.towerhobbies.com. You'll need to sign up and all, but a great place. I've spent quite a bit there, and always had good luck with them.

Kyosho has really shaken up their USA distribution, and it appears to be the dubest thing I've ever see a company do. About a YEAR ago, I ordered the Enzo Mini-Z from Tower Hobbies. After a month on back order, I called and asked "What is UP?" Apparently they do not carry Kyosho anything anymore. Go ahead and check the website if you don't believe me. There are a lot of Mini-Z accessories from other companies, but no Min-Z's. I called all the nearby Hobby shops listed in Kyosho USA's web site and they could not get the Enzo either. The only place I see them for sale (on Ebay or elsewhere) is Hong Kong. :sigh:

You should prep and prime the body just like you would the real thing. As for the paint get a small bottle of touch up paint from the dealer. When you go to put it in the airbrush, just thin in out alot with paint thinner. Use the "trees" to test the dilution. IIRC the ratio should be about 3:1 thinner to paint, maybe a bit more thinner if you are using the really thick touch up paint.
To make the lights work, drill a small hole in each place, and use "grain of rice" bulbs. They are available in the model railroading section of most hobby shops. You can wire them all in an power them with one 9 volt battery.
As for the "wash" to highlight the panel lines, get some flat black paint, thin it 1:1 and brush it into the gaps with a q-tip and wipe the excess off with a damp paper towel before it dries. Remember to do all the gaps, including around the lights.

I did one of those last year. I really suck at models. No patience, no attention to detail. If I had to do it again, I would skip a LOT of the engine detail and focus on the body/glass. But to put it on an RC chassis would be cool! Be careful, these models aren't made for impact.

Nope, I haven't moved on. I was waiting for the rules for the 944fest 1:24th spec class to come out. I'm not sure if I'll need toothpicks or straws for the roll cage. I had intended to get clear bumpers out past the bodywork to protect it, knowing any real use would destroy the detail efforts. Speaking of detail, greg and I went to the same model school. One can identify my past work by my fingerprints glued on to the bodywork. I'm hesitant to do this one in fear of screwing it up. If a few folks were going to make these, we could set up a mini track at Nelsons in June! I think I could make that deadline.
