We used to use a device called a "Vacuformer" to create our own "glass" which was much better than what was supplied in the kits. Made nice aircraft canopies which were in better scale than the thick, opaque ones in the kit. Looks like you're building a RC so details aren't that critical. We built for display only. Some quick tricks: Use Future Floor Wax on the glass. It will make it much clearer and provide some scratch protection. Warm up your rattle-can paint in some warm (not boiling) water for a few minutes. It will make the paint flow on better. Your first coat should be just a light misting. Allow to dry 5 minutes, then apply several heavier color coats. You could get it airbrushed but that seems overkill for an RC which is going to get dinged anyway.
