The coolest project ever, in 1:24th.
I've been wanting to do this for several years, but have not been able to gather the resources. Now the parts are all in place. I did some research and it came to this:
First, you need to find one of these. Revell Germany is making them again, but I am yet to find a reliable source. I've picked up a few kits here and there. My local hobby shops are unable to order them for me. They are 1/24th scale, and appear to be the same size, scale and detail from the Hasegawa kits. I'm guessing Revell bought the molds.

Part 2
THEN, You find one of these. I hunted quite hard for what you would think to be a common Kyosho kit. It is a Kyosho Mini-Z Ferrari Enzo remote control car, Ready to run. I calculated all of the measurements, and you need to get the MR02 chassis for the numbers to match up right. These things are incredibly fast and fun to drive for their size. Price, somewhere around $140. (EDIT-many cheaper opportunities exist, careful with the wheelbase)

Part 3
Then, you mate the two chassis together. I still need to do this part. I'm unsure what color scheme is best, either Glacier Blue or the rarer guards red. I'm going to put a lot of effort in to reinforcing the body, and sticking some hidden bumpers out at ground level to protect it, but the wheelbase is a perfect match. Does anyone see some very cool potential here?

I'm sure a few of you guys can come up with better fabrication than I can. I'm taking my time, consulting a "proffesional" for the paint job on the car. There are many tricks to making the glass, blinkers, etc look good. (like putting tin foil behind the clear lenses) I've been told I need to get an airbrush to spray the body, brushes or spraycans just won't do the trick. Since our cars have such wide body gaps those should get detailed too. The Enzo body mounts are two at the rear/sides and one at the front, those should be easy to transplant. Once the body is painted I plan on filling the front and rear with either epoxy or hot melt glue reinforcement.
The hard part so far was getting a chassis that fits right, and I'm very pleased the way the enzo chassis lines up. Not only is the wheelbase right on, but the track (width) is right there too. If it was too wide or narrow spacers could be a PITA or would look hokey. I agree I'd like it to be my color, now I start the hunt for testors glacier blue paint.
Let me know if anyone else starts this project, I could use some other ideas. Good luck finding an Enzo from anywhere but Hong Kong!
I just visited the Testors website, and I didn't see a color chart but they did list a color as "Boyd Enamel Ice Blue Pearl" That could be close!!- (or not)
It looks like some other guys had the same idea:

Now I see you can light kits, too! Wouldn't that be sweet to have running lights!?

Yeah Dan, you need an air brush to paint the car properly! I had one 25 years ago, when I was painting my Tamiya Sherman and Tiger tanks! You have to dilute the paint, spray on many thin coats, etc.
Luckily for me, if I ever decide to build that model, it comes in alpine white from the factory!!
