Looking for all nine 1987 U.S. Turbo Cup cars

No, no turbos were ever run in the IMSA Firehawk series, only N/A's, S's, S2's, and 968's. The white Cup car shown in post #457 is one of the 9 US Escort/Cups indentified in this thread. VIN ...103.
As part of the Carlisle/Hawk marketing effort, there are a few cars that make the rounds thru various vintage races and pro races for advertizing. From a 69 Camaro to the Cragar & Hawk World Challenge Corvettes, to this 944 Turbo Cup. So the traveling pit crew likely does not have much specific knowledge of the 944, and you would have needed to find the owner to get the history on the car. Although now based in Charlotte NC, he still sends the car and/or its parts back to a p-car shop in MN to have major work done.
[edit - added quote & info to clarify which car/pic is being discussed]

What does '87 #103 have to do with this '86 being auctioned. What did I miss?

No connection between the two cars.
I was responding to the belated question in post #480, asking about the picture of the car I posted in post #457 from Rennsport reunion.

Anybody how much the 944 Cup car was at the Gooding Auction today?

Never mind. Found my answer: $72K.

Hmmm. The cup car sold for $72 and a street Turbo S sold for $75? Weird.
EDIT: Those prices before 10% buyer's premium. The buyers paid $79K for the turbo cup and $82K for the Turbo S, which apparently had uber-low miles.

In one of SCM articles several years ago (entitled, "What's the next 904?," or something like that), I remember two of the aspects of a collectible Porsche that the author enumerated. One was factory Porsche race cars eventually have always become collectible. The second is about the relative current market value versus its original MSRP - if the two are close, then such car is approaching collectible status. I'll have to find that article, as I'm going from memory. At any rate, the Gooding auction 944 Cup result is nice to see. I hope to keep enjoying my Cup model.
