weight savings suggestions.
heres what i have in mind for the new "s"
manual windows.
manual steering.
manual sunroof.
No ac.
replace all sound deadening with dynamat. (is that lighter?) even the rear hatch carpet. replace all that BIG foam crap underneath it.
find some better looking lighter wheels....NOT FUCHS!
anything else I should consider?
good thing is the new euro parts car has 2 of the three first mentioned. and dad already has the manual sunroof stuff laying around.

I think Dynamat will probably end weighing more if you use it correctly.
Delete the rear seat?
Take out the power windows?
Replace the glass with Lexan?
Replace body panels with fiberglass or carbon fiber?
Good Luck!

I know I have hyped up the manual roof thing in the past, but unless you plan on going the easy route like Sid did, it is kind of a PITA to get right, and get to look right. You do save some weight though. I think if I was doing it from a shell, and knew it was going to get resprayed, I would have a good body man weld in a nicely contoured panel and make it a sunroof delete. Then I would have to fab up a set of bows and make up a correct looking roof liner.

SPEEEED HOLES!
Fixed back seats, lexan rear hatch, remove headlight buckets and the headlight bar....go for a fixed light setup (in the speed holes).
Heres the thing - it'll be a compromise. To remove weight and still keep your car presentable/daily drivable requires a lot of money.
Why do you wanna do this? Improved handling? You couldn't handle a stock 944 - I know I cant. Having 195 touring tires on my 325 really shows how terribly my turn in/line/etc is.
Keep it the way it is.
As for wheels, you can ask the new owner of my car if he'll sell the Enkeis. Besides fuchs (and maybe some BBS), I think theyre the best early offset wheels you can buy.

this is true.
actaully
I think im going to blame brad and his FRWilk chip.
if it wasnt for that 1 ft lb of torque the tires would never have let loose. stupid chip!
serge. i think the correct statement is.
i should NEVER EVER EVER drive a 944 in the rain PERIOD EVER AGAIN EVER EVER EVER NO MORE!
never had problems handling it on dry roads. hell. i was losing brad

This has nothing to do with your accident. I don't care who you are, a 944 is too much car for any teen's driving capabilities.
You can go fast through corners so effortlessly - the driver has no role in it whatsoever.
I used to think I was a ok driver.

Rewire with 1 size smaller guage wire. Remove all unnecessary circuits, fuses, and relays (time consuming, expensive).
Remove undercoating (cheap, very time consuming).
Remove tar paper from floor boards (messy, time consuming).
Delete stereo, speakers and wiring (the engine note is your entertainment).
Delete interior trim panels (improves engine sounds).
CF dash (the original dash is heavy as hell).
1/2 guage glass (unobtainium unless your address is in Weissach).
Titanium fasteners (expensive and very hard to find in metric, gall easily).
Lightening holes properly flanged (flanger set is expensive).
Gas strut pop-up headlights with pull cord activation ala 914-6 GT (manual retract only).
Next?
