Drive a Porsche? Are you a "target"?
I've seen this many times in the newspaper before, and it is a pet peeve of mine. Sometimes it's BMW, sometimes Mercedes. But always, if a Porsche is involved, seems they have to mention that. If the guy had wrecked his Taurus, or his Camry, no mention of that though. This is the first I had seen locally involving a 944, so I though I'd share it. Are they trying to imply something? Are they trying to "rub it in"? Is it, "See this is what happens if you drive one?"
Now whenever you see the same, just take note, see if you notice that also.
(I think I had seen this guy's car around before. If it is the one I am thinking of, I don't think he had the car very long, and he is not a 'Lister. Also, interesting comment about the "oil tank". and the passenger, who looks like HE might have been more banged up...))

I would guess that when reporters hear a call come across their scanners about a Porsche, BMW, etc. being involved in a wreck they figure there is a pretty good chance it is going to be pretty spectacular. Wouldn't you say that wreck was pretty spectacular?
Just a hunch though

Looking at this wreck and Ashton's its amazing what these cars can take.
My mechanic sold a 951 to a good customer last year. While he was trying to find a CD that fell on the floor he moved over into oncoming traffic (4 lane road in the city, 35mph speed limit, most do 45). He was in an off-set head on with another car. His left arm and leg were broken pretty bad, but considering he probably didn't hit the brakes (nor did the other car) it was about a 70mph impact.

These suckers are built like Sherman tanks. Hard to believe the passenger was alive, let alone able to argue w/ emergency personnel( obviously in shock, though).Wouldn't want to put it to the test, but reassuring to know they can withstand an impact which would reduce a lesser vehicle to the equivelent of a stomped soda can.

there was an accident in Colorado... they mentioned "A guy in a BMW rear ended someone and sent them flying across the median into oncoming traffic"...
if it were a different type of car, I dunno if they'd have said it or not...
