Yep, I will be flying in for those. You unload AR-15s up here and the locals get restless. Jennifer is taking the rest of the day off! I might make it to the gun shop with her tonight, excellent.

You need a FOID card first Matt

What the heck is that?

I tried to tell him about some of the differences in state laws regarding buying handguns in particular. I know it's tighter up there than here.

Big thanks to Josh for putting the "Day at the Range" together to begin with! And a double dose of thank you for the shooting lessons and use of the cannons - umm, AR-15's! It was GREAT! Just don't talk to me until my hearing returns - and somebody answer that damn phone. It's been ringing for two days now!

Its a card you apply for. Basically, they do a back round check and take a photo of you. Then they send you a card with your photo attached. It takes about 2-4 weeks to happen. Then your supposed to register your guns in IL. Its a pain in the butt.

Put it this way, You CAN'T even hold a gun in the shop unless you show a Foid card.. crazy huh?

I grew up in Ct. There we/I got a permit to conceil a weapon... cool.

Matt, let me know if you need help. Cristin and I go shooting.

Likewise. Thanks Joyce & Keith for the Bar B Que. Beautiful house BTW...

It was to good to see everybody again and swap stories.

Kevin, Keith and Joyce thanks for making the looooong drive up to the lake yesterday. Really like showing off the new place. Plus it was great how y'all fixed my "thumping" noise with such little effort. I even took the big chance and washed her after you left and went for a drive. No noise....for now...??

Thanks again, lets do it again SOON.

Here are the only pics I got from the Bar B Que>>>>>>

I am headed to MegaSports tonight to apply for the "card" (what a joke, the girl on the phone says usually 3 weeks!) but yeah, once we get something we can hit the range, there is an indoor just a few miles from my place and I am pretty sure there is one up near your place too. JPR has a range in Aurora which should be close to you.

Next step...AR-15...must have...

It was too funny last night, Jennifer was just having a ball with the pictures. She said those look like serious firepower.

James has a fantastic lake house - very cool setup! And a great drive as well. Would have been a blast in the 951. Did you say loooonnnngggg drive? WOW! 108 miles - one way from our place in Katy - but James knew that since he did the same trip to my place on Saturday! Long distance awards go to Matt though - all the way from Chicago! Good effort all around guys - it was a great weekend! Looking forward to doing this again.

That is crazy. I suppose they run stings to see if shop owners demand to see the card too. Just to make the shop owners distrustful of people that walk in their store, for sure.

I think Matt liked the Glock 19 and I know how much he liked the Sig P220. I wasn't letting him keep either of them though.

Megasports is 7.99 + the 5.00 to the state for each of us, seems reasonable just not to have to screw with the pictures myself.

What are you shooting?

Keith, your place is incredible, makes me long for Texas again, makes my almost similar investment look like a shack. I assure you that if we are headed the range again, I will be there!

James, next time I will find a way to get up to your house (though apparently you are living in another state )

Dont let Brian kid you I asked to take the Glock home I figured I would never get the Sig away from him. I am thinking that one of each plus a .38 like you had in the back and I would be good to go for at least a few months. During that time I could convince myself that I NEED an AR for the house (yeah right!).

Scary fact, there are 1.2 million FOID card holders in Illinois, population of Illinois is just over 10 million. They say they are processing 200K apps. per year. Looks like I am not the only one!
