Well, I saw this topic and measured my 951 RC body, and then what do you know, I see Tifo posted about me later in the topic. I'm the one that owns said car, and the body is about 230 mm long. It's definately not 180 mm, so I guess I just have big hands. The car the body belongs to is some generic Chinese thing, so there aren't any manufacturer markings. If the demand is high enough, I can look into making some copies.

I was going to say the same thing about the body looking small... I've just measured the body I have, and I'm pretty sure that the 200mm refers to the width. Mine came out to just a few over 200. I would guess that this is a guide for making the bodies and more importantly just a reference to a category so people know which bodies will work with what. Check the width of your car Kenneth, if it's close to 8in wide by 15in long, it could work. I'd be very interested in getting a run made somewhere.

Hehehe, that 944 body is badass. Hobbies are so addicting and so torrential on your wallet tho!

I was into RC aircraft for a while. Still have one w/ salvaged radio and engine.

By the way, if anyone's interested, I've got an RS4 Pro 3, just needs crystals for the radio and receiver. all complete with 3 batteries and 2 chargers, 13 turn triple motor, awesome reversing speed controller (don't know what it is) 2 sets of wheels and tires, another set of wheels, BMW M3 GTR body, Porsche 996 turbo body (slightly damaged from accidental jump) and spare parts/tools that it came with.

$300.00 OBO... I've put too much money into this and am about ready to get out of it because I don't have the time anymore. PM me if interested. I'll take more pics if requested.

Okay, after going back and measuring the width, I see that the body is only 95 mm or so wide. Sorry guys.

***WARNING: This post is slightly OT for the 944 forum, but relatively on topic for this thread. You have been warned.***
First, a shot of my Traxxas Nitro 4Tec, currently in complete disassembly while receiving a 2.5 engine swap and "rally" conversion...

Next, I have a question for any of you "hardcore" RC guys. I'm really a nitro guy by heart (come on, the fricking little engine turns 18,000 rpm and runs on something called NITRO!), but am working on an engineering project that requires an electric RC car.

I have an HPI RS4 Rally, the 1/10th scale offroad 4wd one. I custom fit some 1/8th scale OFNA buggy wheels on the car for increased ground clearance and reduced rolling resistance over bumps and such. Rigged up some T-Maxx shocks too...

Problem is, the 1/8th wheels/tires are about double the diameter of the stock 1/10th wheels and tires. So my gearing was doubled. I've tried getting the smallest toothed pinion and largest toothed spur (I think I'm something like 12/96 now), but its still way too weak. I have an unknown motor, I think it might be a 16T or something, and was running a second rate ESC on used NiCads. Yes, I realize just getting good parts to replace these will help a good deal, thats where you guys come in. What size/spec/brand motor should I get (no restrictions, doesn't have to be "legal"), which ESC, and obviously some new 1800mA or more NiMH battery packs will be needed. Here's what I was planning on upgrading to:

1. Lowest turn motor, which is what? 12 Turn?
2. Higher dollar ESC like a Rooster or Super Rooster
3. 1800mA(or +) NiMH batter packs, maybe 7 cell?

Do I need the fancy $100+ ESC or will a $60-70 one with less bells and whistles work? The car will see lots of part throttle, so the ESC's Transistors get worked pretty hard. I burned out my cheap-o $25 ESC last year. The car only has to run for about 30 seconds at a time, and only at about 3/4 throttle when using the stock 1/10th wheels/gearing.

Ahhh....the gratuitous RC car picture thread..............

Megatech Nitro Razor kit, HPI GT3 body, Futaba Magnum Racer FM radio, homemade tuning platform/pseudo dyno.........

It would be really cool to have a 944 body of some type. If I had the time right now I would do some type of a buck for a mold. Maybe someday........

Nice

Suddenly I feel the urge to buy supplies and make one of those little "dyno" things...although I'm not sure it would do much good for me!

It was real nice as I broke the motor in, to get the mixture right (making carb adjuistments while running). I work at a place that has miles of conveyor, so having conveyor rollers laying around gave me the idea to make the "dyno". Five dollars worth of steel and bolts, free rollers and a little horizontal mill work for the wheelbase adjustment and......voila!!!!!!

Yah that would be cool to make. Mine's been sitting for a year now, and it didn't run the last time I tried, plus it's had gas in it since then . So I think I should rebuild the motor...but the parts would cost more than HPI's motor exchange for just 55 bucks, so if I did that I would have to break it in again. Only after the p-car gets fixed though

The measurement necessary is track width, which is what's referred to for body sizes.

As an example, my body measures roughly 7 7/8" wide ~200mm. The body is 17 1/4" long(~438mm), and wheel center to wheel center is 10 1/4"(~260mm).

That's on a 1/10th scale car.

You had a car, so you should know.... We have no choice but to be ricers, as that's the only kind of body available for the on road cars Aside from the super car bodies that is.

The stratus body that my car came with is a testament to rice. I don't have a pic of my own car, but this pic is on HPI's website : http://www.hpiracing.com/graphics/ne...tusw/s2001.jpg A 4 door with a body kit and a wing??? Only a ricer would do such a thing

HPI's list of bodies.
