damn you guys, i dont own one, but if i saw a damn 944 body, id end up wanting all this damn stuff. i went to school for damn car design, and all we really did was made damn models. i could probably make the buck and have something vacuum formed over it, but that looks like a big piece to vacuum form, plus doing that stuff, you go through about 6 sheets before you get a good one, due to chance and uneven heat. but id definitly be able to make the model. are all of these damn chassis' the same dimensions? and all have universalmounting points? or all the same whell base? same width? same height? damn it! anyone in columbus with one? near columbus? if tifo, are you going to andy's gtg? feb 5th? i can bring my machinists rule, and you can tell me which points are the criticals, or maybe the "limits" if you guys are racing. i am not by any means a business man, but i can see if i can go to ccad's work shop with my girlfriend and she can use the vacuum form. are the "glass" pieces seperate, or is it all made in a single sheet of something like acrylic? too stiff? the only stuff ive vacuum formed was acrylic, and styrene.

Kenny,
The mounting points on the cars differ by model, wheelbases can be slightly different, but you make the body with it being "flat" down the sides with no fender openings so you can trim it to fit your car, same with the mounting holes. If I make it to the GTG I'll bring mine so you can check it out. If you have all these resources, maybe we can come up with something, and it will get me off my *** and do something.........

And yes, the bodies are formed with 1 sheet of what I believe is Lexan, .030" thick. It's shipped with the excess and everything still on it, we paint and trim it. It also has a protective film on the outside of the body, so when we paint the inside, there's no overspray problems. I don't know if that can be done or not if we make a run of them... if not, it would be easy enough to get around.

okay i never set my photoshop back up to resize my "pictures" but what i mean is, the spoiler has an undercut, and the n/a front bumper has an under cut. also the panel that everyone hates between the tail lights would make it easier . this is just so the mold lasts longer and wouldnt have to pry the part off. alll the body creases woulkd still work out good, and i think wider than scale fender flares would work ok too. the spoiler would have to be an add on, and mirrors and detail things like that. so maybe someone can put an s2 spoiler on....etc. so is there a web page that has the 944 specs for length and height, and track width, and stuff so i could start on some drawings? maybe an old road and track how they show the side view of the car with all dimensions? my car is off limits right now and stuck in a garage.

just make some that don't have the fender flares. IF there is a 924S body, I wouldn't be selling my RC car...

Mine is a HPI Sprint rtr,
I just recently bought those wheels and tires, the tires have alot better grip then the original ones. Fun toy to play around with and pretty fast out of the box.

I think we could go without the mirrors (right guys?). None of the HPI bodies come with mirrors, and they all look great still. I think that might be best left to the councours body people to make themselves. As far as the bumper goes, I don't think anyone would object to going with the turbo version. It looks better anyways

And you're right about the wing in the back. HPI makes all their "spoilers" seperately. That's the one thing that would be awesome to include with the body.

As for measurements, I would measure mine, but I've hit a few curbs already, and I don't think they would be accurate. I'll check the HPI website.

Lookin good Antonio!

I found this page:

http://hpiracing.com/kits/heritage/rtrn-ss.htm

It has several dimensions listed. It doesn't list the measurements for the body mounting posts though, we might have to have a look at one and take some measurements from it.

That's okay, you still have to drill out the holes anyways. If you look at a body anyways, it has 2 sets of dimples for the front holes, and a single set for the rear holes, giving you options on how to mount the body. I think there might be a standard on the body mounting positions, but I'd doubt that any 2 RC car manufacturers are truly the same.

Just make a body out of clear Lexan, and before paint, you can cut out the wheel openings, and lay the body in place and drill the body pins yourself. This would allow you the best possible fit anyways.
