Default MegaSquirt + 951

Has anyone successfully installed MegaSquirt in a 951? I've seen MS on Chevy 944's and that's not what I'm talking about; I'm curious about using MegaSquirt with a decently stock 951. There's been several threads on the subject but no rock solid "I got it working" posts.

Would I retain the DME/KLR for some functions or would the MegaSquirt handle it all? It seems like a relatively plug-&-play operation once you're done with the soldering iron.

And let's try to keep this thread on topic. If you can't contribute to the conversation by adding new relevant information, just continue reading along.

Its a build it yourself ECU/Piggyback. Quite a spiffy project.

Dark I think there was someone who did it to a 951, I seem to remember seeing a thread about it as I was searching for something else.

Rennlist discussion:

ribs - Turbo MR2

Besides that thread, every other post on the topic is just like mine asking, 'who's done it already?' Sam Lin, Perry 951, and sharky47 all mention wanting to play with MegaSquirt but no updates. Granted Perry is playing with a custom 911 but any maybe he'd have some insight. Any of you have any success?

Thanks.

Going off this list: https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...16&postcount=6

The ones I'm concerned about are the stock tach functionality, stock boost gauge (which I can live without), and the A/C compressor control signal. How do the TEC-3 guys handle these?

Few others I don't know their function but I still need to do some more reading.

I'm waiting for the Ultra or the Jolt to come out before doing mine, so nothing new from my end. I can't help you with stock gauge functionality, as that's never been something I looked at when researching.

I am currently working on a MAP sensor and output to run the stock boost gauge to read at +ATM, so 1 bar on the gauge will be 1 bar of boost. Its taking a while but we have identified the pins on the cluster and just need some time to sort it. Its really designed for those with aftermarket computers that no longer have the stock gauge plgged in. Should have something in a couple of months all going well.

I'm going to give MegaSquirt a try. I ordered all of the components for their V2.2 (ECU, stimulator, and relay board) and should see it within a week or two. Sounds like the only tricky parts will be ignition timing and possibly the throttle position sensor, but I'll know soon enough. I'll post occasional updates here as things progress.

Yup, triggering brought the AEM attempt to a stand still I think.

The MegaSquirt has been implemented on other Porsches before (mostly 914's) as well as countless Audi's/VW's/etc. Supposedly that's not a problem but we'll see.

I know Megasquirt is running a few 944 engines, it's not an issue.
