It's hard to go back to normal driving
Wow, what a great weekend for driving hear in the midwest! Nice and cool for the "new" 951!
It was a lot of fun learning the power band and handling of the new car. I found a couple of back roads with sweeping turns where I could practice enducing a little throttle oversteer and got used to setting up a good line into a corner and accelerating out of the apex!
One problem... As I was driving to work this morning I found myself comming into a bend on a county highway a little hot and almost s**t my pants when my work vehicle almost drifted off the road before I could get on the breaks! Is it just me or has anyone else been P-car daydreaming when driving their other vehicle?
There really is "No Substitute"

Yea -- I have the same problem, too. Whenever I get into a non p-car, I have to keep reminding myself before every turn: "this is not a p-car... this is not a p-car..."

Range rover does that times 10. NO sway bars, got a little better when i put the heavy duty springs (for lift) and bilsteins in, but still, it's hairy. Worst thing is getting accustomed to porsche brakes, then trying to drive the Range. I've ran a redlight because of it actually.. as i slid through it. Luckily it was late and noone around.

hehe... everytime I drive my mom's car and try to get through a traffic gap in a turn, it seems that the tires start screaming. Who is with me on the theory that Chrysler LHS refers to Large-Heavy-Sedan?

HA, i knew that would happen to me so I bought a GTI. Its got stiff suspension, 18" w/ Pilot Sports, 28mm sway bars, 3.5" clearance, 312mm rotors- FUN! So now instead of having to worry about turns, going in too hot... etc... in a truck, the only problem i have is coming out of a turn and not being able to throttle oversteer!!!!!!!! DAMN IT! I wish the GTI was RWD!!!!!!
I do have that horrible problem when i drive my mothers car on occasion. I forget that other cars pitch in turns! And big brakes arent on every car!
EDIT: HAHA, ive noticed that tire screech thing too. Funny how ive RARELY ever head my tires make noise! (im not driving hard enough?!) Yet you can drive an econo-box 25mph through a turn and hear that horrible sound of tire-protest! Are their limits really that low????? (crappy tires too)

She didn't have to say a word - the look that followed said it all.
I don't really drive her car that much any more. When I do the first thing she does is buckle her belt - and makes sure to make a point of it - and the second is to tell me point-blank - THIS-IS-NOT-THE-PORSCHE!!!

Happens to me all the time. I also miss how other drivers regard the 944 versus when I'm in some random hooptymobile. E.g. if I'm a bit fast, they're not surprised, and if I'm a bit slow, they don't honk at me as often.

I used to have that very same problem. In fact, I had it to the extent that I decided to make a Porsche my daily driver. That way, all the miles would bring nothing but smiles.

One thing I DON'T have that problem in is when I drive my dads V70R, that thing is a station wagon, and is 10 times as fast, and holds the road seems to be just as well. Only problem is in an S turn or something, the weight transfer is a little much, a lot more weight in a station wagon.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one. Looks like I'll get at least one more nice weekend to enjoy before I put her up on jack stands and tackle the winter projects. I'm sure I'll get her out on a few nice days though.
