Default Price on a used 951/S2 front bumper cover.

My 951 is damaged and in the process of being repaired. I'm running into problems with my insurance allowing the body shop to buy a factory-new bumper cover (list is $1081.) Insurance says to plastiweld it but come on it's not a frickin' 1988 Cavalier, it's a Porsche.

That said, anyone have a good condition *used* 951/S2 front bumper cover they'd part with and for how much? Or offer some advice on what one might be worth? I'm talking about just the plastic cover, not the steel frame underneath.

I'm looking for options my insurance and I can agree to.

[edited to add price of brand new OEM bumper cover.]

I think a new one is $650-$750 (or was when the dollar was stronger.)

$815 from Pelican, maybe a bit less if you look around.

How badly is yours damaged? Could it be fixed?

I have one that is almost perfect, I have filled the three little dingers in it with the appropriate flexible 2-part epoxy (just last weekend). All that is left to do is finish sand the repairs, sand the entire piece for paint, and shoot it.

I'd let it go for $300 plus actual shipping costs to a fellow rennlister.

The damage on mine is two fold:

1) The bolt holes at the driver fender have been ripped out. Very easy to fix.
2) The tire ate into the bumper cover due to the frame being pushed back. As a result, the bumper cover is a good 1/4" shorter than it should be. Yes they could rebuild it but the shape of the curve would be a guess at best.

An experienced body shop should be able to handle that, no problem. I would fix the existing one you have, honestly. They can replicate the curve by using a negative template from the other side that is undamaged.
