I messed up. I wanted to do a poll. I'm not really used to this thing yet.

My current set up is stock 205/60/15 on 15 x 7's all around.

This upgrade would be for the street. No track or auto-x.

Since 17" wheels usually look better I'd go with that or try and find a set of 16" 951S or Fuchs wheels.

Or you could buy Pete's CUP2 or Khan wheels.

I agree with Anders that 17" wheels look better on the cars (although a little detrimental to performance on an N/A). If you go with 17's, I would go with a larger front wheel/tire size than you have listed on your poll. A 225 would be more appropriate for our front engined cars.

I could put in a shameless plug for my Kahn's here but they are a little too much wheel & tire for an NA.
I vote for option 2 for best driveability, option 3 for looks.

I'm running 225s on 7" wheels all around on an N/A and they are great. They look mean being so wide, and they fit perfect. I want Cup 2's, but i just bought the tires for these.

My setup:

On an NA? I think it was Skip that said, "17's for Show and 15's for Go".

I wanted Cup 2's but went for fully polished 16" phonies to keep losing the benefit (minimal though it is) of the Floyd Wilk chip and 8mm Magenacors, etc I had just put in.

Dan: Do you have a better side shot of your car? I have 15" phonies on now and am thinking about getting a set of 16" (Really want the 968 rims though). DO you think there would ba any performance difference of just cosmetic? Also what size tires do you have on there?

Here's a shot of mine from the side. I like the fat tires but hate they way the sidewalls seem to bulge out around the rim.

you can find sets of 17x7, 17x9 sport classics on ebay for great prices. a lot of boxster owners ditch these rims in favor of 18's, so they're some of the best priced 17's you can find, especially if you find a set with tires included.

Isn't 225/50 15's too small in overall diameter compared to the stock 215/60 15's? 1010tires.com's calulator shows it's a 5% difference.

Option B - 16x7 wheels & 225/50-16 tires front, 16x8 wheels & 245/45-16 tires rear.

I'd stay away from 17's unless you have new or aftermarket A-arms & ball joints.

That is a good setup for the street.

I run 16" Fuchs with 205/55 and 225/50's on my 84 daily driver.

The original owner put these on the car years ago. Very nice for the street.







I have 225/50 and 245/45 on 16" club sports on my turbo S. Nice too, but the fronts tend to track a bit.
