I had 225/60's on there, and that was real tall, and I didn't like it. The 225/50 looks better, and the car is pretty low now. It's not a big enough difference to really notice much. If anyhting, the tires are a little easier for the car to move because of the laws of centripetal forces and torque. Look at M758's pics.
I like it much better

Aside from the size, do you have any particular brand/ style of wheel you are interested in? I would rather have a smaller diameter Porsche wheel than an inferior 17" wheel. If you could post some pics of some you are thinking of, the opinions would be more valuable. Good Luck!!

yes ljd-924SE that is my car. I do reccomend the Sport Classic 17 inch rims. These are actual porsche wheels. They both look good and ride nice too but are a little bit harder of a ride then the old 15 inch rims.
Also as others on this thread have said you should put 225 tires up front with 17 inch rims and 255s in the rear. That is what i have on mine.
If you have any questions let me know.

oh, also to add a little bit more info. with the 17 inch rims you need to put in a 1/4" spacer on the front wheels. THis is just so that the porsche crest (or any other type) Center cap will fit in the wheel.

In my opinion, by the time you pay for the Mille Miglia's with tires, you will have spent roughly $1200.00. You can get used/like new Porsche wheels for that amount of money. Also, after looking through the archives on Rennlist, it seems alot of people dislike the quality of the low end after market wheels. They are reportedly more brittle, heavier and lack the quality of the higher end stuff.
To give you an idea, I bought my 16" 993 wheels with the colored center caps which are perfect with brand new conti sport tires for $780.00 including shipping. Granted, I feel that I was lucky that day. But deals are out there...just keep looking!!
Hope this helps.....

Jeeper31 (Dan) Sorry I haven't been back to this thread recently. I do have better side shots in my office computer. I will upload them tomorow. In the mean time, Tifosiman is correct, the early offset 16's look much better, unfortunately they don't fit on our cars (both 87's, right?)
For "era correct" looks I like Fuchs the best - my preference is full polish with the black masking...but Fuchs don't fit on our late cars, so I didn't go with them. If non-era correct is okay, then I like the Cup II's best, but again, they are heavier I believe - though they look great. In the future I am considering buying some CUp II's ...when have some extra cash for two freaking sets of wheels!

A few months ago I made a gallery of as many factory or popular aftermarket wheels for the 944 that I could find...
![](http://evilallianceracing.com/ipw-web/gallery/albums/944wheels/wheelguide.jpg)
Check it out if you're shopping around and getting confused (like I was before I made the gallery to get things strait for myself).
I also have a set of 16" 968 style (they're actually off a 964) chrome wheels up for sale...
![](http://evilallianceracing.com/ipw-web/gallery/albums/chrome968s/105_0591_IMG_001.sized.jpg)
These need either the standard early->late offset spacer on an early car, or some clearance machining on the front wheels to make room for the larger hub found on late offset 944s compared to 964s.
