Is this thick red bar at the bottom of the reverse view in PCM normal?
(The reverse camera on my new 992 was just replaced and recalibrated because the lens was missing, so I want to make sure it is working correctly).

Mine has the same red bar ever since I took it in for some new tires about 3 weeks ago. I also now have wireless Android Auto that started up the minute I picked the car up. So, I'm pretty sure that they flashed the car for an update. Have you had recent service?

I have the new color icons in the PCM, and there is an Android Auto icon (which is greyed out, I assume because I don’t haven an Android phone).
Car shows that service was performed at 16 miles. I assume this was basic setup and pre-delivery done by the dealer, not an actual service.

I've definitely seen this red bar on my new car, but I can't recall if it's there every time

I’ve never seen this. Looks like it’s covering up the actual bumper, which I can see in my rear view camera. That would drive me nuts. Hopefully you find a resolution! I guess in the mean time, I won’t let the dealer do any software updates… lol

I was searching through some dealer inventory and this was one of their pics on a 2024 Carrerra so it’s apparently a thing

Why does every euro vehicle have such sh*tty electronics (change your supplier!).This goes way back to the early 2000’s. Porsche is at the bottom of the list. As far as the back up camera, only useful for the last 5ft. Wanna maneuver into a tight spot?, get 75% of the way there first.

I think it is normal. See the couple of rear camera images in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1243...ar-camera.html. They both show it too.

This page from the owner's manual mentions "The red marking corresponds to the rear of the vehicle".
