Melissa, I dont disagree the cop will, you said it would help other motorists and it wont. Poll the people in your office and ask them what a handsignal means, I bet you wont find but maybe one person (or a few motorcycle riders) who know what they mean.

BTW - love that GT1 in your avatar

Oh I don't disagree with you either. I bet about 1 person in my office besides myself would know what the hand signals were, a few might know they exist, and the rest would be oblivious.

But they all SHOULD know them, know how to use them, and know what they mean when they see them in action. And 95% of America not knowing what they are isn't excuse not to use them.

Like I said...at the minimum it will save your butt from that particular violation.

As for the avatar....I've had that pic on my website since like 96 as a "dream car"...long long before I ever wanted a Porsche and specifically a 944. Apparently I just KNEW i wanted a Porsche before I "knew" I wanted a Porsche.

Then again, there's the "universal hand signal" that EVERYONE knows the meaning of. Not that I've ever used that or anything. . . at least today. . . well, since I got here this morning. . .

Hand signals and all, I believe they should make it much harder to get a driver's license. I ride a bike and some bikes have a minimally functional turn signal so sometimes, it could save your life even if the drivers behind you see some kind of movement of hand and slow down not knowing what it means. Matt, you are right most people are clueless with hand signals or proper driving in general (reason why people drive the way they do, reading newspaper, talking on the cell phone, and drinking coffee while driving).

Yea, it's such a joke here: "driving is a privilege, not a right", but of course they make it virutally a "right" by virtue of the fact that any bozo with a heartbeat and three functioning neurons can get a license - probably because they make so much $$$ off of cars, licensing, gas taxes, registrations, tickets, kickbacks from insurance companies, etc.

It's all about money guys, don't kid yourselves. The "safety" aspects are incidental at best.

Cyrus,
Was this traffic violation local? If it was in Glendora I might be able to help.
I think your best option is the written not guilty plea, be sure to use proffesional summarization and arguement points, make it look clean and to the point. Otherwise Citrus Courthouse will charge 170-ish for the speeding 300 or more for the registration (which you wont have to deal with anyway as by the time you go to court you'll have recieved your tags) and anywhere from 100-200 for the turnsignal. Evading the cop and the seatbelt are null points and don't even need to be brought up - the officer would look like a fool if he said "i could have also gotten him with ... but decided to be nice... " Otherwise, Those are numbers i remember from friends of mine and some of my own doing. I've got 1 point soon to be dropped...

Cops are such putzzzzzzzzzzzzzesssssssss.............I know or have known cops that are...Alcoholics, Dope Smokers, Coke Heads, Ricers, and just plain old idiots....I think that cops are just a bunch of idiots with waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much power that will always go to their head....But once in a great while you will meet one that is pretty cool, but most are not....I never try to talk or plea, or even respect the cop if he does not respect me, and take my chances with my lawyer and the judge...

There are actually like 4 cops currently in the MIlwaukee area that are being paid by us the TAX payers even thought they are suspended for **** like sexual harasement, bar fights, beating up people, and other stupid ****, and yet these cops are on paid leave from their departments...What freakin joke...I have no respect for these guys...A cop has never helped me in any way or made my life better in any way.......I think this is another one of those things in the world today that is getting worse and worse....yeah you know what Im saying bull**** or Corrupt cops...

Damian,

The officer that pulled me over was a true a-hole. I respect police officers and what they do, when they do it right. But this guy was a prime example of thinking he's "better" than everyone because he has a badge on his chest.

Exactly....When they do, do their job I do respect them, but I cant remeber the last time that happened around here, it seems every night on the news I am hearing stories of how the cops are screwing up around here...Perfect example...Remember Jeffrey Dahmer..? And when the cops just let him go after the naked asian escaped from his apartment, and all the Dahmer did was lie to the cops telling them he is his lover, who was 14 only by the way, and the cops escorted him back up to Dahmers apartment, where later that night he killed him....If the cops would of ran the asians name, and even maybe investigated a little bit before just leaving the scene the way they did, then about 4 or so more people would of never had to die after the incident with the naked asian....And the freakin cops even went up to his apartment to escort the asian, but never checked it out far enough, despite the foul smell the apartment had of dead body's etc......Cops and donuts mix quite well.....But cops and the law today do not.....

The bestof luck to you. Justdrive nice, i.e. shirt and tie. Be respectful and only speak when spoken to. Most of these guys are on power trips. Again good luck!!
