Default Was ist Das?

I beleive the Red Arrow is the fuel pressure regulator.... The blue arrow points towards something else...what the hell is it? it looks like a presure regulator, but I don't think I'd have 2....

I forget, but it either regulates the flow back to the tank, or it helps to smooth out the pulsing of the flow caused by the injectors. Again, not sure, but I think if it fails you can have the engine cut out from not enough fuel, maybe? aarrgh. been a while...

it helps to smooth out the pulsing of the flow caused by the injectors. yep he is correct. What it would do if it failed would depend on how it failed. If the diagphram split it would leak. If the spring inside broke you might not notice anything or it might cause some fuel control issues from pulsing pressure.

Ok. so the red arrow points to the fuel pressure regulator...which I'm geussing would be a high-pressure line...yet it's got a hose clamp, whereas the blue arrow points to the fuel damper, which is less pressure, which has a pressure fitting? Now I'm confused...I just ordered a FPR from Paragon...I'll get the red one right?

Low pressure return to the fuel tank comes off the FPR. High pressure from the pump goes to the damper.

Not to cast stones but that's some nasty looking brake fluid you got there. Nice job on the engine bay really!

My Bad, I never considered that possibility...I should have known an owner with an engine that clean would never let it get that dirty. Back to my cave now.

the fuel pressure regulator regulates the fuel returning to the tank, at wide open throttle, the fpr may totally close keeping any fuel from returning to the tank and thereby keeping max pressure on the injectors....compression fitting to the dampner is high pressure and the jumper line to the rail is as well, which also is a recall item so replace that!

wait...which was a recall? the line to the damper? any way to find out if my car had that fixed?

As for the brake fluid, Yes, it's Ate super blue.

And finally, Sharky, that's the 924S. I'll show off the 951S engine later

The only 2 problems you can have if the damper goes is, If its leaking, lose of fuel pressure, and if its just broken then you will ahve a RICH/LEAN condition, the car wont be able to hold the right A/F ratio due to the pressure changes. The FPR regulates how much fuel can go into the return line, the less fuel it lets return to the tank the higher the fuel pressure.

so...if my fuel pressure regulator died, it fails usually in underpressure which results in too much fuel to the injectors?
