I had the greatest drive of my life last night in my 83 944. I am going to school in Arkansas and went on this back country highway that was two lanes. It was full of 15 mph almost 90 degree turns to 25 mph snakes with high banked turns. Full woods on both sides and the temperature was about 80 degrees. It was at night with the hardtop off, radio off, windows down, and just listening to her sweet sweet music. I was taking every turn as fast as I could (and about to crap my pants on most of them). I drove for probably 45 minutes there and 45 back, and didn't see a single car. Just me, my car, and the road.
I just had to share this with yall. It was the first time I have been able to open her up and really drive it. These are trully amazing cars. They might be a pain in the *** sometimes, but it is so worth it for drives like these.

It was a state highway, but a very desolate state highway. And yes there were some curves with some banks on them which was pretty sweet.
I am going to school at Arkansas in Fayetteville. I'll get the highway number I was on. I think it was gonna go on for hours if I kept driving, but I had to save something for later.
Im sorry, but man that really was the best drive of my life. I couldn't imagine it in something more powerfull. It was really cool because I didn't know the roads at all and it was so exciting to see each new curve coming up, and what the next one was.
I think I am going to make it a daily drive.

I know exactly what ya mean. one day, about 2 hours before work, I'm thinkin to myself, "hey, I'll go to starbucks for a cup of coffee...." that ended up being "after coffee, how about a trip up deer creek canyon." so I did that...get to the top and start heading home on sh-285. I see a sign that says Morisson, next right. so I took it. follow that road until it comes to a T...Left is up another canyon, right is home...I turn left. go to the top of that, and see a sign that says "I-70 5 miles right" so I figure it's time to go home...I turn right. On the way to I-70, I see a sign saying "Mt. Evans, next left" so of course, my train of thought is, "Hey, I've never been to Mount Evans, and I live in Colorado. why the hell not?!?!?" so I go to mount evans...I look at the clock, "Oh ****. I have to be at work in half an hour...." I call up my boss and say "Hey, I'll be late, I'm on Mt. Evans" My boss asks how late, and I told him I didn't know. so I show up to work about an hour late, and everyone starts lookin at me funny...the assistant manager comes up and says, "Geoff, this is a professional place of business. I can understand being late because you over slept, alarm didn't go off, car accident, speeding ticket..." at this point I thought to myself, "does she really think I'm a bad driver?" And she continues, "but just calling in late because you decided at the last moment to go to Mt. Evans? that's not right, nor acceptable." I was like, "ok. sorry."
Then my manager comes up to me and says "Mt. Evans, eh?"
"yup"
"That's ****in awesome"
That was one of my best drives ever. it was all on a whim, AWESOME 2 lane, empty canyon roads, taking 25 MPH turns at 60, listening to the purr of the Porsche's engine, and putting about 125 miles on the car while touching the same asphault in ONLY a 50 foot stretch in front of my house (cuz I had to go back and change...) I was having so much fun... too bad I had to work that day. I'd have probably made it to Aspen...

Couple of years ago I went on a road trip with a buddy from high school. We went through several states, from FL to LA, to KY, to VA, etc. The best "drive" we did, however, was the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway, in the mountains of Virginia.
My friend is more into motorcycles than cars, and when I let him take the wheel in the Parkway he couldn't believe how well the 944 took the turns. It's a convertible, and I was standing up in the passenger seat meanwhile...

arkansas has some great driving roads, especially in the ouchita mountains.
too bad oklahoma is primarily flat, straight roads
