Name: Andy Serrato

Age: 22

Location: Chula Vista, CA

Hobbies: Aside from restoring this new 944 and maintaining both her and the 928, I collect diecast Porsches and Ferraris that are 1:18 scale and build plastic models. I have many discontinued diecast such as some 993s by UT models and some Ferraris by KYOSHO and Hotwheels.

Porsche Genesis: Well, in my family we started young, way young. My dad was reading tech manuals to me when I was 2-3 years old as stories before I went to bed. in 1985, I was 3 and we bought a brand new slate-gray metallic Porsche 928S 32v off the showroom floor at Alan Johnson for $57900. We sold it in 1995 sadly for a Ford Exploder. Anyways, my obsession for Porsche took off after the purchase of that car and I loved Porsche with all my heart and soul still to this very day even.

It's a tradition now in my family to ownt hese cars. With a 928 S4 title shared between my dad and me, we are split 50-50 for maintenance and aftermarket additions on it. The 944 however is all mine and with some occasional assistance, thanks mom and dad if you read this, they help me fix what breaks.

Anyways, thats a small summary of me. Welcome aboard new listers and have fun on Rennlist! We'll always be here for you...

Andy

Name: Amy

Location: Adrian, Michigan

Occupation: Business Administration student at Ferris State University

Age: 22

Hobbies: Working on my car whenever it gives me the chance, cleaning it, camping, reading (whenever I get time), cooking, sewing, jet skiing, kneeboarding, traveling the world, and lots more!

Porsche Genisis: Well, what do you do when your boyfriend (at the time) get's a 944 and you never knew what a Porsche was? You get schooled! And royally if you know Daniel (Dan87951 that is)! What a blast. LOL by the time we were dating for two years I could tell you the difference between a 928 and a 968. I had to or I would be disowned! Ever since then I helped out whenever patience ran out in the garage. I would distract, disturb, dis-assemble, re-assemble and generally hover over any activity in the garage until I had gotten tired of having nothing to do. Then I would start waxing. Even if the only part on the car was the front fender I would wax it! The first time I ever got porsche blood under my nails was when Dan and a few of his buddies and I skipped class to change the CV joints on P1. While the boys were all up in the garage cuss'n and sweat'n about how come they couldn't get the boot back on I was in the basement reading the instructions. Once I had a good handle on how to do it, I came back up and was like, "Here, can I try?" By that time they were tired of try'n and they handed it to me. After a few minutes and a few words in German instead of frence if you get my meaning, (that seems to make her feel right at home the boys found out. ) I got her back together. Anyways I have generally had a love for Porsches since I fell in love with Dan. Haven't fallen out of love yet. To this day I still get excited when I see one! Some day it will be a Carrera GT for me.

Age: 23

Occupation: Travel Services Specialist for Priceline.com (cross between a top level customer service person, a travel agent, and a no man)

Non-Porsche Related Hobbies: history, literature, writing, baseball, traveling, music, driving on the open road and having new experiences. i also enjoy teasing Chris 924s (i still wont let him live down the 'radiator' thing), & eyal, and ****ing around with my water cooled brethern (yeah.. those audi drivers know who they are.. )

Porsche Genesis: dad had the 1st 944 in columbus.. i was instantly obsessed. when i turned 16 i was looking for a 944, but then fell in love with this obscure aircooled wonder called a 912. with a classic 356 engine and 911 looks, it was the car for me. i have had her since 97 or 98 (sorry kinda too tired to think now). i have driven her all over the country.. midwest, the south, and this year, for the 2nd year in a row, i will be driving her cross country.. 6000 miles round trip, to spend a weekend with about 90 other 912s. nothing beats the feeling you have out on the road.. you are truley at one with your car, nature, and life.

How I found Out About Rennlist: looked around yahoo for porsche sites and message boards.. found this one.. dug it, and stuck around.

Name: Nabeel Jawahir

Age: 19....almost 20!

Occupation: College student, majoring in political science and pre-law at the University of Kentucky.

Hobbies- Cars in general, traveling, partying/hanging out with friends.

Porsche Genesis- My friend got a Guards Red '85.5 944 when I was 15. I really liked it, but still never saw myself buying one. I was looking mainly at 3-series Bimmers and MB C-class cars at the time. My dad favored BMWs, so I was pretty much dead-set on getting an E36 325/328i. That still didn't stop me from looking at other cars, and I looked at a variety of cars, including a few 944s. My parents would not let me get a 951 (good choice on their part) so I limited my search to the 944na. After seeing a few cars and calling about many, I went to Northern Kentucky and found a perfect condition Kalahari Beige '85.5 944, complete with all service records and with only 63K miles. My dad and I drove it, and we loved it. This September, the car will have been mine for 3 years. I absolutely love it, even though it is no longer in 'perfect' condition, thanks largely to me using it as a daily driver (and thus being not-so-gentle on it) until I got my Audi 1 1/2 years ago.

How I found out about Rennlist: I really do not remember, but I'm sure glad I did!

Dal Glassinger- Iowa

47 y.y.

Just like Ted Nugent I kill things that move! Fly Fishing also

Retired but currently stripping and staining a huge log home for the price of an arm and a leg.....to pay for racing. My other hobby is just keeping myself among the human race....aka Blood Lettings and doing the right thing to ensure my toes can wiggle the next morning!

2.75 years ago after attending my buddies DE events I caught the fever and saved to buy the 924S. This is where Rennlist was suggested to me so I signed up.

2.75 years later I get the OK to Club Race. Currently waiting to "grid up"!

Cheers! Dal

Location: Hamilton, AL in transistion from Orange Park, FL

Occupation: General Surgeon

Hobbies: Porsche racecar building: my 968 TRS ("replica") has been in evolution for nearly three years, and likely another three as my relocation delays progress. I also enjoy computers, woodworking and to some degree, remodeling.

Porsche genesis: I bought the black 944 Turbo S you see in my avatar new in 1988. From there, the insidious processesion from owner of a new sports car to autocrossing, to driving school participant to driving school instructor to Club Racing began.

How I found out about Rennlist: I was on Porschelist back in the day--too slow to send my money in to John to be a Life Member--another one of thoses little life regrets. I lurk lots, don't like fights and really like the new software format.

Age: 51, yuck!

Occupation: Avionics Technician, all facets, box repair, installation, engineering, sheet metal.

Hobbies: Boating, 40 ft Marine Trader trawler, shooting, working on things mechanical/electrical.

Porsche Genesis: After my last 6 month cruise ended in June 2002 I needed to go back to work. Found a good job here in Ft. Lauderdale and picked up a $400 beater VW, POS hard to start and front end was falling apart. Decided I wanted a sports car, been thru the truck/4wd/transportation
scene and was time for a "Fun" car again. Really wanted a Triumph TR 6, but scarce and any in any kind of shape were out of the price range. Remembered the Porsche 944, thought hmmm maby. Started looking and found that they were in the right price range. Picked up this 83 in pretty good shape, wish I had found rennlist before I got it tho, but all in all didn't turn out too bad. No major problems except the clutch, and that was a piece of cake to do, thanks to all the info I gleened from all you folks. Love the car, and as I said, "What took me so long". Believe I found out about rennlist from Bill Underwoods site, don't remember exactly tho.
Enjoy this thread, nice to get to know all you folks.

Name: Dan Pierson
Aged 40 years

Occupation: Air Traffic Controller at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

Non Porsche Related Hobbies: Flying Cessna 172s and Piper Pa28s, Geocaching, playing Papa to my two girls (4 and 1) computer games, throwing parties.

Porsche genesis: Pops was always a German car guy. He had a bunch of VW's and Audi's, eventually he got a 73 911. He got tired of the service costs so he sold my 16 yr old older brother to the service department of the local dealership. Pops and Bro did a decade of NOR PCA DE's without inviting me because I was a scrub. I rebelled and drove american cars, well, actually, whatever I could afford. In the early 90's I cleaned up my act and got a great job. Pops finally was proud enough of me to invite me to a DE where I drove his "beater", an 88 Turbo S. Within a year I got a nice raise at work and found my 89 951. I sold the Grand National and never regretted it. I've done 2 or 3 DE's every year since. The bro evolved into a P-car Master Tech, but he lived with his mommy till he turned 40 and the A-hole thinks he can walk on H2O so we don't talk much. Cuz is now my Bro, he was a camaro drag racer before winning a 5$ bet by driving 1000 miles for a track ride in a Porsche. We surprised him and enrolled him in the school, letting him use Pop's 88. He was hooked and bought his 89 951 before the next school. Through the DE's and car shows, etc I developed a group of 944 friends and realized it would be a great thing if we all got them together for a cruise someday. When Cuz comes in to town with his Pcar for the DE, I make the call for all the waterboys to gather.. Thus the beginnings of the 944fest. I suppose the rest is history!

How I found Rennlist I really don't know, must have been a search. I was here before it was what it is, that is for sure. John D is my Hero.

Porsche Genesis: we had a buble gum in europe, called Turbo. You got a picture of a car inside. My parents bought me one when i was like 7 and i got a 964 inside From that point on my 911 passion had started. About 2 years ago we had an Accident call and it was a 944 vs tree which was the first time i found out about 944's existance. Later my friend Obin Robinson from vwvortex.com told me all about these cars which resulted in a purchase of my 84 944.

Occupation: Sudent Ithaca college, major: Televisdion Radio, Video Production

Hobbies: Sports, Scuba Diving, Karate, Reading, Boating, music and video games.

Porsche Genesis: IT began very young for me as i was brought home from the hospital in my Dad's 1980 924. Ever scince then i was hooked. Every where we went i always asked to go in my dad's car, he sold the 924 and bought an 1986 911 Carrara in 1986 which now has 32,000mi. As a little boy i even had a porsche racing outfit that i wanted to wear everwhere. WE are a porsche familly as my grandfather has 3 (a 1997 Boxter, 2001 996TT, and a 1986 930S slant nose set up for racing with follbars and variable turbo from the factory). As I said my dad now has an 86 911 Carrara. My first car was a dodge neon which was a good reliable first car.

Then the day came after my freshman year of college i came home was unpacking my stuff and mom said"Go out side dad wants to talk to you." And there is was my 1988 black 944. with a paper on the indow that said happy birthday (My birthday was in 5 days) I was in shock i always joked asking for one for my birthday but never actually expected one. NOw the car is my baby and i have put new wheels on it (Porsche's 17" sport classic wheels) as i have had it for over a year and would never trade the car for anything else. My car now has 36,000 mi. If you want to see pics just go to the website listed below the message.

Now durring the summer almost everyday my dad and i go to the local porsche dealer and talk to the mechanics and salesmen, we also go check out paterck brothers every once in a while (Porsche restoration shop in NJ), and other porsche places.

How i found out about rennlist: Stumbled along it while serching the web for porsche sites.

"I urinate, defacate, and lactate every time I walk in the garage and see it parked there. Im so lucky. We all are. But Im lucky. Partially because Im not getting laid. See, you cant have both. That I know. Im cool with that."
Chris, that first quote is priceless! I laugh everytime I see it... I think it might be necessary to steal it every now and again (hope ya don't mind!). Yes, we all are lucky... that goes through my head as I smile EVERY time I see my car.

"...Assorted games you can plan on a ping pong table"

Ahhh, especially the ones that require 2 ping pong *****, 12 cups forming two bowling-pin formations and a lot of beer.... right??

Officially Amy... why did Dan stop "chasing amy?" You are a very beautiful girl and seem like you have a decent passion for these cars now too, I like that (on both counts)... Dan? comments?

Default ahhhhhh...what the heck...

Name: Don Adams

Age 47

Occupation: Tech Support Manager

Hobbies: Racing, creating things (always have a project going around the house), computers and racing

Porsche Genesis: I was bullding a drag car (1969 Firebird) and decided I was tired of building (5+ years), so I thought I would look into another form of racing that I could enjoy longer than 12 seconds (hopefully) at a time. I knew of the SCCA and begin to investigate their site trying to decide what kind of car and what class I wanted to go after. In the mean time a gentleman from Miami had found my pontiac for sale ad and bought everything pontiac I had...with that I began looking.

At first I was looking at everything except a Porsche (long complicated story)but the longer I looked the more it made sense given the (Porsche) community here locally, the history, and the fact that I thought they were cool as hell. It just so happened that in a email to a local shop about buying one and having them check it out, they mentioned that they had one I ought to look at. I did, and the rest is history. I have had it for two years now and I love it!

How I found Rennlist: A friend of mine told me about it and I checked it out...I knew after visitin here a few time that I need to join, so I did.

The End
