Question for 944 guys with Vented Nose Panels

I was considering having vents put into my 944's nose panel probably from speedforceracing.com. Has anyone else had this done? If so, does it help the cool the engine or is it more of a cosmetic addition? (in the picture below it seems like quite a bit more air would hit the radiator)

SFR no longer does this. I have done it (well Brian did it for me!). Dont think there is any data either way but it sure does look cool.
Takes about an hour with a dremel and steady hand. Then figure some cash for respray.
FWIW, that is the intercooler not radiator behind the vents.

Radiator would recieve zero extra air, as Matt H said....what you see is the intercooler. There is (or should be) a duct coming off the new ducts that are cut feeding directly intt (and sealed to) the intercooler.
If it is not sealed, air would take the path of least resistance...that being around the intercooler rather than through.
It does look really cool, but I've heard from people who know more about aerodynamics than myself that that location on the nose panel is a low pressure area and thus not a good place to put a duct. I would assume it causes no harm, but it may not be as beneficial as most seem to think.

Yup, SFR stopped, I had to do it myself with a dremel.
Do a search for "SFR VENTED NOSE PANEL" or something like that, there's LOTS of info inside, including a cutout you can printout and use as a template to cut the panel with. I did it, and it worked great.
Also, make sure you can cut the aluminum vents so the air won't be going places it shouldn't.

i took out the little plastic shield that directs air from the lower nose up to the radiator when i installed my upper nose panel. I havent seen a great improvement in cooling but im sure its alittle more efficient.

On the n/a versions behind the header there is a plastic shield that diverts air from the bumper to the upper area of the radiator. When i installed my vented panel. I reinstalled the shield up side down so it routed the air through vent opening directly into the rad. and added a small alum support for reinforcement.

No matter what, the only vents that look right are the 4-slot version as per the original 924 turbo and Carrera. The complete badge panel won't fit the 951/S2, but some holes could be carefully cut for the grilles to fit into.......
Are the black plastic grilles that were used still available from Porsche? Anyone know a part number?

I would believe there is a cooling benefit to the cutouts...on my application they feed an intercooler. I still have to duct the air routing though. I have not had the road time on it yet to clarify if the vents aid a noticable amount in cooling or not, however they cannot hurt and they look pretty good too.

The nose panel on XSBOOST's car was the one that used to be on my car. When I installed it (if you need to know the procedure, I covered it a few times on here in the past, do a quick search and you will find it.), I noticed a slight decrease in temps. My car also has no AC Condensor in the way of the radiator, so YMMV. I didn't see an increase in temps when I sold the panel to XSBOOST and then went to the 951 front end, but I *think* that is becuase the 951 front end cools better due to the different construction of the bumper cover. I have 4 more of those plastic factory 931 black vents. If I can source a spare 951 header panel someday, I'm going to attempt a custom version of the 931 header panel for my car.
