Bad news: The throw out bearing in the 87 951 I bought is going. It is hard to shift into first and reverse when the car is running. When it is not running it shifts fine.

So I am 50/50 for the 28th

Plus the mechanic I have been using here in Central WA state sold his shop and has left the business. So I need to find a shop to do the work. We have one other Porsche tech here and his shop does not have a hoist. He is going by the book at 20 hours x $65 U.S but I know he is not busy so he will probably make a deal. I might have it changed in Vancouver at Scan Auto, I think they charge $78 cnd ($59 U.S).

Any thoughts?

Travis,
Have you checked their labor rates recently?

JCB,
that does not sound like the TOB, that could be a broken spring from the disc jammed in there.

But seriously, I like Scan a lot more. I remember leaving after getting a PPI on my car... James came after me in the parking lot asking if I wanted to buy some Kokeln (spelling?) chips for my car. Now THATS what I like in a mechanic Weissach is great for parts, but driving downtown makes my blood pressure rise. Im worried some worthless denizen of East Hastings in gonna run out in front of me one of these days and im not gonna be able to stop, then ill get crack filled blood on my bumper and some dents. Almost happened before Then ill get in trouble because ill be out kicking the moron as hes on the ground, for damaging my baby.

Bob Bunger (Bunger Automotive) in Yakima did mine a few months ago for $900 (no parts) but he's always busy and hard to get an appointment. He did do an excellent job though.

I am not 100% sure it is the clutch now. The brake fluid reservoir was in between the low and high mark so I added some fluid and that seemed to help. It might be a master/slave cylinder problem.

I am going up to Vancouver next week (Tues) and I will drop over to Scan and see what they think. Does Scan do alignments?

For alignments they send you to Levitts.

When I asked James about him, he said Levitts is the best in town, just dont try to talk to him, his customer relations suck ***, but he knows Porsches and alignments for them inside and out. Also he said dont try to deal with him directly, make an appointment through Scan...

I'm hopefully gonna have my new custom exhaust in and tuned for this one. Anyone know if 94 octane is plentiful in the Vancouver or Surrey area? Does Mohawk/Husky down there sell 94 at the pump?
