LOTS of 94 Octane, but I highly recommend buying from Chevron ONLY.

Mohawk, Chevron and Petrocan, all have 94 but not at every station, maybe 50/50

My car's tuned on Mohawk 94, which has ethanol, that's all we get up here in Calgary. Using non ethanol blends messes up my air fuel ratio, so I only use mohawk .

For the first time in 3 years, we started and drove the porsche. It was pure awesomeness. I am still not 100% sure about coming up, but it is looking really promissing.

Good luck all,
Eric

Just remebered, I just tensioned the belts/waterpump/rollers. Anyway, when we ran the car yesterday, the belts were whining like no other. Do any of the people who are heading up to the meet have a porsche belt tensioning tool (I used Kriket) I could use while we are up there to see how close/far I am from the correct tension.

Thanks,
Eric

My belts used to whine on the 86 after being replaced, not so the 89, I dont think it's a tension issue, but nothing to worry about.

Every Mohawk ive checked in this area has 94, my car runs fine on it. Ive checked at a few Petrocans, never seen 94 there. Husky seems to have 94 too at most places I think.

Best bets are Chevrons and Mohawks. Ive used both, car hasnt bitched or moaned yet

Just had to spend $1000 on the house this weekend, puts a serious cramp in my ability to come up there for the run. Not looking to good about me going. I'll still try though... it would be so fun...

aww, come on Brett - you'll regret missing out on this drive after the fact. Money you can make, the experience you cannot miss!

It's pretty reasonable to come up here for a weekend, and other than slightly higher gas prices, everything is in cheap Cdn$ (food, lodging if you stay overnight, etc) Right now you get $1.31 Cdn for every US$1 - or C$1 = US$0.76, so it's like getting everything at 24% off list price.

If I get to do this, would the following would the following make a reasonable trip?
6 hour drive to the Ramada Inn on Friday, do the run on Sat, stay Sat night somewhere, tour Butchart Gardens and/or Victoria on Sunday, then head home (including time for the >6 hours home)? Having a single day to cover the gardens reasonable? Where should we spend Sat. night if we do this? I'm worried that with ferry schedules, etc. this is not possible. So, if I'm to do all this stuff I have to burn some vacation days and do the garden/Victoria before our run...
Any advice appreciated. My wife loves flower gardens and I am more likely to be able to come if this is more then just a Porsche thing. Also, we are both photographers

Heres the Ferry schedules for the route that youll want to take. Also all the wait times are announced regularly on a few radio stations around here.

Brett the ferries to Van Island will probably be booked solid. However, there is a lesser know gardens complex on the way back from Hells Gate - the Minter Gardens.

Plus there are lots of things to visit in and around Chilliwack (50 miles east of Vancouver):

http://www.fraservalleyguide.com/Chilliwack.html quote:

'A variety of facilities await the visitor to the Bridal Falls area including Bridal Falls Bumper Boats, Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park, Bridal Falls Camperland, Bridal Falls Motel, Bridal Falls Travel Centre, Dinotown dinosaur theme park, Minter Gardens,'

http://www.mintergardens.com/

that you can visit without dropping a bundle or hassling with ferries. It'll make a nice weekend if you visit just a few of these places - plus there is Harrison Hot Springs in Chilliwack too!

www.expedia.ca should help you on hotels for that weekend - it will be busy though, so best to book ahead.

why the hell do ppl keep ditchin out now? I mean is it even worth going anymore?

Along with that all I gather is we're meeting early early morning in Cloverdale which is some sort of sub-division in Surrey? I have directions but what's the plan afterwards? A cruise to Hell's Gate? Is this a full day adventure, 1/2 day, the whole weekend?

Whoa dude RE-LAX. Of course it's worth going!!!! When was the last time you cruised along with 20+ 944's ??? It'll be awsome.

I even booked the night off from work already!!

I would say this is definately a full day adventure. I think it will be neccessary to print out maps and such for everyone. I will consult with S2Nut, K27 and Randy to determine the best routes and checkpoints incase we get separated.

I would very much love to meet up in the parking lot, cruise together for a few hours up to some campground with a paved parking lot where we can eat brunch and photograph and chat, and then cruise onwards to some more majestic roads and photo-ops.

We'll work it out and set it up for you guys, so don't worry!
