Cuz the wheel locks are a bitch and a half to remove without em. I had to use 3 different punches, a screw driver, and a huge hammer to get em out. It's a pain in the ***. I wouldn't recommend it.

Do yourself a favor and purchase a book on locksmithing. I did a few years back and it saved my butt more than once since. As a matter of fact, that is how I get my locking nuts off now because I am too lazy to pickup a new set with a key.
Harbor freight carries a pick set sometimes. I made my own from looking at the examples in the book, but I am sure the purchased ones will work just as well. The only catch to this is, try not to carry them with you everywhere you go because if the police see them out, they are considered "burglary tools" when not in the hands of a licensed locksmith.
And if you are even thinking of trying to open one of the duel tumbler locks like the car doors have, forget it. That you WILL need a locksmith for, or about 2 months of practice.

Once again, here's what you do......
1) Tools needed: hammer, cold chisel, beer of choice (but Shiner Bock is best)
2) Pop the caps off the locks.
3) Place the sharp end of the cold chisel in the groove for the cap.
4) Give the end of the chisel a sharp rap with the hammer.
5) This should pop the end off the lock. If it didn't, take off the skirt and repeat #4.
6) Remove sleeve from locking lug nut.
7) Remove decapitated lock cylinder.
8) Repeat 3x
9) Drink beer

I threw those wheel locks away after one of them jammed and I couldn't remove it with the key. Drilled it out, but I sure wish I had known about the chisel technique.
