Default Be honest..Who here really wants a 911 ?

Looking at the thread "leaving watercooled..", gave me some impressions that some 944 owners really want a 911. As for myself, I have to be honest here. My 944 is not a daily driver. Its a cheap toy that I got for about $4,000. So far, I have spent $2,000 on maintenance stuff and new rims/tires. I have always loved the 944 looks, its timeless and one of the best designs, ever. Same goes for 911. But the 911 to me IS a Porsche. Honestly, the only reason I did not get a 911 at the time is because of funds. If things go right this year, I should be shopping for a 911 by this summer or fall. There is a plethora of really good condition 911's here in So. California. Trust me, I would love to keep my 944 but that may not be possible. I would probably sell it and the most I can get out of it is probably 4K. All the money I spent on upgrades and maint. stuff won't count of course. Again, its not worth selling it but I may have to.
I hear that a good example of a perfect 911 will never go down in price, it would only go up. That is not something that can be said for a 944. 944 - great car, but 911 is the real McCoy.

Call me crazy, but I want a 914 really really bad, more so than a 911 even though I want one of those too!

Oh boy, I can hear the can opener opening up a container filled with long amaphroditic slimy things.

No, my 944 is a true porsche and I will be keeping it. Although I may ADD a 911 for a little variety (ie the spice o'life).

95% of the worlds male population that knows what a Porsche is wants a 911.

The other 5% are either liars or Mullet lovers.

95% of the Mullet lovers that are part of the aforemeintoned 5% are liars.

Hmm I want to add an 911 SC or early Carrera to my 951 but I would have bought an 911 if I had the funds when I bought my car 3 years ago.

I wanted a 928, now I have one.

911? If I found a good deal and had the cash, I'd pick one up. But I would not sell either of my current P-cars to buy one.

Only 911's I would really go after are the 3.6 Turbo and the air cooled twin turbo's. Other than those two, they really don't excite me.

My next car will most likely be a Factory Five Roadster. I'm playing with the idea of a 928 motor...................doubt it will happen but I've got a few years to plan.

911..in a long time...prolly 10+ years from now...absolutely
83' SC-993
something in there
hopefully i can find a pristine one still in 10+years
but sooner then that i would like to have a 944s/s2/951/(cabriolet or coupe)
my 83' has some BIG problems to be perfect....for instance: a PO hit a deer with it (or something: dealer didnt tell us and we didnt have the car checked out..first 944 i had ever seen, i had to have it!!!)..bondo on the hood and roof, replaced the rear hatch..must have been long long time ago...so it didnt get totalled by the insurance co. ;-)

Sure, I'd like a 911. Preferably a 993 Turbo. And as long as I am at, how about a 356 cab. And 914-6. A 928 GTS? Why not.

Oh, yeah. A 550 Maranello, and a matching 360 Modena Spyder. And a BMW M3 cab. Also, a 72 3.0 CSL, and a pristine 71 2002 Tii. How about a new 745i and a M5 just to round out the marque.

Of course, and XKE, and an XK140MC drop head. A big Austin Healy 3000. Don't forget to add in a cherry TR6 and a TVR 3000M.

Just for good measure, let's not forget a 67 Vette 427. And 70 Caddy Deville convertible. A 69 Z28 would also be nice. Throw in an ISO Grifo; it would like nice in the drive next to the Maserati Ghibli.

And call me weird, but a pristine Checker Marathon (consumer model) would be fun...

I guess my point is that there are any number of cars I'd like to own. But the one is my garage is the one I enjoy the most, because that's the one I can drive any time I want...It's fun to dream, but remember to appreciate the blessings you have. "It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got..."

oh behold the 928!!!!
almost forgot about that...never driven a 911..but i have driven a 300hp 928....compared to my 944 they are sooo soo much nicer...it is very very apparent that they were a higher priced car...
late model 928 just may be on the TOP of my list
and a 914-6 for the track

I'd love a 911. It would look great in the garage parked next to the 944.
I'm a big fan of the 993 but I wouldn't turn down a pre-74 model.
I'll always have a 944. Ferdinand says it's a real Porsche and that's good enough for me.

I have always wanted a 911 and was going back and forth as to getting a 944 series (S-2 or turbo) or a 911 and after driving both, I just like the 944 better. Much smoother, quieter and more refined.
Maybe I'm just getting old, but I want fast, good handling and comfort.

alpenweissisnice:
please do consider that i love my 944 its just not a good example of the car....i AM sure that i want a later 944 FIRST..and its very possible that a 951 or 944s2 would be enough to please me forever
thats why im on this discussion board instead of out selling it and my 924 (among other reasons)
