Be honest..Who here really wants a 911 ?

If I had the money to buy a 911 I wouldn't.
If I had the money to buy five of the top of the line 911 variants I wouldn't.
If any German car qualifies as an over sexed VW the 911's do.
So why would I want a VW?

I might be able to go for 964 Carrera Cup or a 964/993 RS "replica". But before that would happen I'd have to have either a 951, S2, or a 968. I like the lightweight no frills of the RSs, but a normal 911, no thank you. I'll take the better balance of the watercoolers.

Honestly, I've never really wanted a 911. Given a choice I'd get a 928GT. It was my dream car for years.... I just like the front engine water coolers..... Maybe it's because I grew up in the 80's......

I want to drive a 993 as well as a 996. I like the idea of having one of the last air cooled 911's. On the other hand I really like the styling of the 996. I have driven several older (early/mid 80's) 911's and prefer my 944 NA. I will never see the money I have put into my car so I will eventually use it as a daily driver when I do upgrade.

I want all the 80s Porsches, 911, 944, and 928 - I'm almost there. Having driven all of them, I'm surprised more 944 owners don't move to 928s rather than 911s. If I were doing it over again, I'd have bought the 944, then a 928, and would now be looking for a 911.

of course i want a 911. i'm tired of driving this embarrassing, underpowered, poorly styled, audi-derived front-engine water-cooled box that's not even a real porsche. and i can afford four of them right now

the 911, on the other hand, does reward with much sharper instincts and a more driver-connected feeling

Then I still have a sweet spot for a 55 chevy two door wagon. Not the Nomad.
I've had over sexed VW's. Driven 911's. Been there done that.
The 944 is ten times the car that the 911 is.

so cal - i respectfully disagree. in the hands of a good driver, the 911 is more car. the 944 is a great fundamental learning car, but when you get down to it, the 911 is a true drivers car. i will own one someday, as i said before, in addition to Allison.
