So very pleased, and not to mention fortunate, to have such talent onboard with the project. It's quite an improvement from my pencil sketches I have to admit. Hahaha

1.5 " Lower would be perfect for the rockers. I think more than that you may run into issues of bottoming out. Although the 944 wheelbase is pretty short so it may be ok.

I love what you are doing with the mirror covers. The worst part of the 944 mirrors are the rubber pieces on the back of the mirror. Im guessing it will not cover those?

I agree any lower and we may have clearance issues. I know mine is pretty close to clearing my driveway and some of the local gas stations as well. Forgot to mention getting it on a lift is a 2 person job to slide arms under 😂.

How about those project 9 stickers?

Uhm, I don't think we are talking about driveway and gas station clearance here.....

lol I originally figured that many will be track cars only but my driveway is what I need to get in and out of before I can think of trailering 😂. Still leaves me needing a shop hand to get the arms under to lift lol.

Yes, the decision has been made, 1.5" it is.

As for the mirror covers, you are correct. The carbon fiber cover will not over the rubber portion of the mirrors. I wonder what the idea was behind including the rubber on the mirrors in the first place? Certainly not aerodynamics, preventing possible glass or paint damage to the chassis when folded perhaps?

Progress on the widebody is coming along great. Here are a few shots during the forming process for the foam.

In the end, I decided on widening each front fender 2.5" and the rear fenders 3". The fenders and the eventual rocker panels will extend 1.5" lower than the stock bodywork.

any thoughts on making some add-on hood vents that complement the styling of the 944? you know, with certain angles and curves built in, rather than HVAC register vents, lol.

Being that the 944T haw the additional +1-2" which are legal to run, I'd say your +1.5 lower to ground is fine.

What I did was dropped a plumb bob from door sill to ground for wideness as the top of the metal rocker is 1-3/4-2" wider than the very bottom of rocker.

What you've described for the rockers is in the ballpark of what I have planned. Although I believe I'll extend from the sill a 0.5"-1.0" before dropping a plumb line to the barge board. Once I have the rear fenders complete and can produce a set to apply to the development chassis, the rocker/barge board development can begin. The goal being to offer the rockers as a supplement to the flares but not required to complete the kit.

for functional aero check out 333pg333 and Duke (both RL users), their cars over the years have gone from stock bodies to full on WTAC spaceships with all the aero you could imagine.
