Ian, do you already have a set of 4-pot calipers to go with those hubs/spindles?

For what it's worth: I had a similar "rip" in my driver's seat and I took the seat cover off and brought it to a seamstress who could sew leather. $20 later I had a repaired seat.

I don't have them yet, down the list of needs at this point, but if a good deal pops up it will be worth picking them up.

That could be a temporary solution.

Wrapped up the timing belt / water pump / oil change today. The fans don't seem to be working, so just another thing to add to the to do list.

As for the cgt, I would love to check it out and help "supervise" or lend a hand. Let me know when you need anything.

The fuchs are very much appreciated and I am enjoying them thoroughly.
Yeah not looking forward to pulling the rack again, I was much happier to turn wrenches on the timing belt job. But once I wrap up a few more small things on the 924 I really should get back on the 951.

One thing I didn't see on you list you may want to look for is the Carrera fender decal.
I'm not sure the car will get any of the Carrera GT's badges / decals. I would lean towards the less is more approach. But as with all things on this project I am sure it will be a fluid situation.

BtW, the images of the body look okay.

Thank you for your advice, and thanks for the compliment of being an amateur mechanic.

So because I don't own a 968 at the moment I cannot comment on something posted in the forum?

You posed in the forum, I commented, that is what the forum is designed to do. I happen to follow the 924/44/68 markets quite closely because I am fascinated by them. There are all sort of subtle pricing nuances between the different cars, and the different modifications. Your car is an interesting case study, I gave the closest comp that has been sold, that is all.

Hello Grant,

I for one would like to focus on this build. On a personal note, Ian is a very competent mechanic and has owned several very nice cars.

Looks like his FS thread didn't go to plan right off the bat and he felt slighted that his modified 968 may not be worth as much as a factory produced 968 Turbo to some people but that is the reality for many collectors, purists and enthusiasts- as nice and documented as it is. Best not let your project thread be derailed, though.

That's not very mature for someone who has owned these cars for 32 yrs. Be the bigger man and walk away.

I didn't see your car listed in the RL marketplace, why don't you list it there? It gets far more traffic than the 968 forum.

With all due respect, you sir need to change your Attitude! You have insulted both Ian and Chuckz in your thread. Neither was rude or disrespectful to you and you have come at them both with direct attacks. Both of them are extremely well respected and have owned many prime examples of these cars.

Since when is a 968 such a superior car to a 944? My recollection and is that they are very similar and share many of the same parts. I have driven them and frankly they are wonderful cars but not superior to the 944 in my book.

You're doing the same 968 guy, you're in the lower class forum named 944
Nice 968 indeed, must be a fantastic car. Wish I could afford to drop that kind of money...to be honest I would if I had the means...but probably on a 993 turbo...or a 993C2 and spend the rest driving it for the next 15 years

Anyway, whats up with the 924S Carrera GT tribute project? I haven't seen much 924-ness or GT-ness going on and its been 3 pages already.

PS: for us 924 guys its the best when we get to see 944 guys fight 968 guys...its great to be 924 poor, hahahahaha.

Other than myself, does anyone that has posted on this thread own and drive a 968. It appears to be 944 content which belongs IMO in the 944 Forum. Looking for 968 content.

944 is a nice sports car. I owned a 1985.5 944 from new unti I sold it and bought a 968.
Post reported.

Thanks for showing your true colors.

There are several of us who have turned more wrenches on more cars and completed large projects than you ever have.
