Looks like the 964 people are getting burnt too. I don't feel as special for owning a 914 anymore https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...eferrerid=4328

Peter,
I gotcha, and thank you for the clarification on your noble intention.
The problems I've seen in the past about conducting business in a public forum is that the two people conducting that business may be on the same page and OK with what is transpiring, but the rest of the peanut gallery feels the need to jump in voice thier 'uninformed' opinion. If one or both parties involved don't have time to respond immediately to set things straight, stuff goes out on a tangent like wildfire and gets out of hand quickly.
Perfect example: I posted and sold a set of aftermarket Fuchs to a guy on a forum that he mistakenly thought were originals. He paid, I shipped, and when he got them, instead of calling me or emailing me directly about the misunderstanding, he immediately posted his 'horror' on the forum and demanded I make things right. Well...I had just left for vacation for a week, with no access to emails (pre-smartphone era). When I got back, a friend of mine directed me to the thread, that had now spanned 10 pages ripping me up and down about my non-responsiveness, how I was screwing this guy, never to buy from my business (I owned Exclusive Motors at the time), etc.
I made it right with the buyer, but the damage was done and it took me a long time to not have that thread referred to every time I went to sell something.
Making things public, no mater how good the intention, can backfire sometimes...
Anyway, enough of that. I'm glad things worked out

Well, you may have made it right with the other guy but our transaction is still pending final outcome. It's been how many months I have yet to see any pics of the car with the new rims. Come on, get with the program, I want PICS!

Interestingly... I only have one pic of it with the phone dials and it's on my iPhone... And I have no idea how to post it here. Let me try...

The phonedials are being used for autocross tires, so I don't have many pics of it...

We had a set of phone dials way back long ago when Papa Smurf was stock bodied, and thought they looked really good. When we needed a set of wheels for AX, I figured Phonedials are cheap, strong, and fairly light, so I got them, and they do look nice.

These are 7 and 8 x 16 from a '86 944 turbo, with 225/245 Hoosier A6. I was told only the 86 turbo wheels fit. I had to put a 1/2 inch spacer on the back to keep fro rubbing the inner rear body, but otherwise they bolt right up. I do have longer studs though already, so not sure how they would fit with the spacer and stock studs. With stock body, I think I remember 7's fitting all around, no spacer. And....way back then we had 15" wheels. Not sure what came with 15" phone dials.

Do you get a lot of crap for driving that car on the road? I know when I had my flared 914-6 on the road I got pulled over all the time and it wasn't even stickered.

Never. And we put 6000-7000 miles per year on it going to all the events in my zone. We almost always drive it, unless there's an AX, then we need to bring the sticky tires.
Stopped at a Drivers license checkpoint once and the cop thanked me for using my 'better than everyone else's seatbelts' - 5 point harnesses.
You get pulled over because you drive too fast, not because of your car...

You (being Jay and I) got pulled over in that car becuase it has a loud exhuast and S cams. You would do 30 in a 35 mph zone at 4000 rpms and get pulled becuase it sounded "fast." Shoot, I got pulled over every time I drove that car - never a ticket.
