Do you guys sell new glass? One is broken. The car originally had fogs or it was added as there is a switch on the dash.

As you can see from these 2 pics, the front clip was replaced with one from a red car. It looks like it was replaced just forward of the shock towers. I scraped the black paint off the towers and it was the original Delphi Green metallic underneath. Basically the whole trunk forward was replaced.

You can see the red here. Also, is there something missing as this area wasn't painted black like the rest of the front end? This is looking at the front driver side corner of the trunk just below the headlight area.

The Matchbox cars are COOL!!! I've never seen one before, what store chain can you find those at, or has it become a Flea-bay purchase?

The car doesn't look too bad, get yourself a rattle can of satin black and cover up the red. Just think, your car is like mine - there will always be a fun project to do on it. And yours is light years ahead of mine; which still hasn't even been driven around the block after owning it for about half a year!

The matchbox are out there if you look hard enough. There have been 5 different colors released to stores with another two or three only available to Matchbox employees that are going for crazy money on E-bay.

I have had luck getting them at any walmart, target stores in the area. Have not checked a Toys-R-Us, but I would bet they could be found there as well.

So I found these on Discount Tire's site. Think one of these will work?

Falken Ziex ZE-512 195/60R-15 88H B ($70 each)

Falken Ziex ZE-512 195/65R-15 91H B ($76 each)

I have the same tire on my Golf (205/45R-16) and they are a good all around tire. Prices are good as well.

The car came with 195/60-15 snow tires mounted on Beetle wheels (4j x 15). I'm going to mount the tires on the original steels (5.5 x15) to see how they work for now. My plan is to repaint the wheels and put new tires on by this summer.

Wheels I plan to mount tires on:

Those bad boys are stock 914 steel wheels. Refurb those and put nice tires on them, they actually look decent for a steel wheel.

Had those wheels on my dad's 914 for a wheel. Painted the outer rim silver and inner part black. As stated above, not bad looking for steel wheels.

I think I will buy some of your trim rings for these. I mounted the tires on them for now. Looks much better. Pics tomorrow.

Well its time to raise the front end. How do I go about that. I know it is a bolt in the front suspension, but which one? Is there a how-to somewhere? How do you know you are at stock height? I heard you are just adjusting the torsion bar and that basically adjusts the height?

Update: Got the tires transferred to the 914 steels. They are 195/60-15 and seem to work fine. They rubbed in the rear very slightly - only rubbing the raised lettering on the sidewall. I bent in the lip slightly on the rear fenders and that has solved the problem for now. I'll have to roll the lips sometime. I'm going to use GPS to see if the speedometer is off. I think I will use this size for summer tires after I repaint the wheels. Looks much better with these wheels!

I also raised the front end. Rides much better, but still obvious that I need new shocks. While raising it, I noticed that the tire shop got the direction incorrect on one of the tires, so I'll have to go back and have them fix it.
