No one, in this discussion, has said any different.

From the beginning:

'74-'89 911 turbo: Typ 930
'91-'94 911 turbo: Typ 965
'96-'97 911 turbo: Typ 993
'01-'05 911 turbo: Typ 996
'07-'12 911 turbo: Typ 997

He does have a 930, and no, Rey has never said he does not have a 911 turbo.

But, at your next cars and coffee, it would be an entertaining proposition for you to walk up to the guy with a factory, 477hp, RWD, '04 996 GT2, and ask him if he correctly refers to his steed, in all circumstances, as a 2004 911 turbo.

No. I believe the continuous nauseating rhetoric has been all yours. Now, "Don't go away mad...just, go away".
I believe the 993 Turbo went through 1998, No?

We stop 911 Turbo cars for speed. We do not write unless we get attitude. If you are on the Massachusetts Turnpike give us a wave.

Admit to what? Go back to any of my post and point out where i denied having a 911 Turbo, from the onset all i said from my very first post is that 911 Turbo and/or 930 is correct. The response was for the op. Why is it so hard for you to grasp that? Seriously let it go and move on...

I have never checked a registrationon on a stop that said "and/or "

In fact I have stopped many a 911 Turbo and not a one has said 930. You have a 911 Turbo. Get over that 930 insistence.
Yes, you can call it a 930 but what is it? A 911 Turbo

Thank you.

<BTW vulgarities are the mark of a small mind.>

Yes you can call it ole yellow eyes but try and register and title it as that. I have said numerous times that you can Call it anything that suits you but that does not make it so.

Call it what you want, speedy, but it is still a 911 Turbo.

Hogie, Hoagie.... a Hog Island sandwich

Sub.... when she goes down.

This is quite a comical thread, beats the AC threads for sure.

So, what do you call a normally aspirated 911 that has an aftermarket turbo attached.... A ninevestite ?

I did not read this entire thread it digressed too quickly.

Not claiming to be the definitive answer but being around these cars since 1977 this is what i distinctly remember. I spent a lot of time drooling over the new Porsche's back at Herman and Miller now Paul Miller Porsche. I was always attracted to the widebody cars and seeing my first 3.0 L 911 turbo seemed like just yesterday. We never discussed 930 at the time it was either a 911 turbo or Turbo Carrera. When the 3,3 L was introduced it was all the rage and the car was impressive compared to anything else on the market. I called it a 930 and IIRC it was Paul Miller himself that corrected me and said it was a 911 turbo not a 930. Although the term caught on and became accepted it was always called a 911 turbo since types were not yet invented.

Fast forward to 1984 I started heading to Europe to buy grey market cars. I land in Switzerland and start shopping for 930's. I got nothing but ????. It would appear that 930 was more a US slang for these cars than there. So I shopped for 911 turbos and turbo carreras's. Helped purchase a handful and only one owner marketed his car as a 930 and that was because his car had been upgraded with factory parts from a 934, Hydraulic clutch and other features not currently available for that year.

Fast forward to Turbo S days and the slope nose cars. Now I recall the salespeople calling them 930S's or turbo S's, Suddenly the "930" was recognized as a proper name for only the turbo S since it was a tribute to the 935 and marketing 930 helped. Although it was still a turbo S or 930 S.

As far as types there is no type 965 the 964 turbo is a 964 turbo and it is called a 965 by many but has no official designation since the 965 was technically a variant of the 911 that never came to be and was based more on the 959. We all are accustomed to calling it a 965, 965 turbo but in reality it is a 964 Turbo even though the majority of parts begin with 965 part numbers..

And yes a 991, 997, 996 993 or 964 if turbocharged are all 911 turbos unless it is a GT2.

That is just my $.02 worth
