That is an absolutely beautiful car. I can only hope to own a 930 that nice some day!!!!

As for the pictures, in the very first post of this thread, the only one that shows up is of the engine/IC. The others all say "Oops, My image for this link is no longer here." And then it says PhotoBucket.com at the bottom of the little square. Not sure why I can't see them and you can, unless they are already cached on your machine in Temp Files or something????

Thanks for the complement and you were right- they were cached for me. Try them now- I reloaded the pics to Photobucket.

Very nice!

Looks just like mine did 5 years ago...

Then the downward spiral of power, more power AND MORE POWER took over. LOL

The journey begins! This statement will make a lot of sense a year from now.

Also, any updates on the popping and running rough?
I started the car twice prior to this morning and due to the constant popping from the exhaust and what sounds like the airbox after about 15 seconds after startup, I had not driven the car for fear of making the condition worse.

This morning I had to bring the car back into town for service to see what the problem was and to fix a leaky turbo oil pump.

Well I had the same popping from the exhaust and 'box, but after the car warmed up, it ran really nicely, as nicely as it's run since I've had the car. From reading on the board, I have to think this is related to the cold start system. Anyway, that's the update for now I'll post more info when I get it.

Jim:

Looks real nice, let me know what you find out about the poping. I have a 87 930 with B&B exchaust and have poping but not on start up only when decelerating.

Oh, that's "good" popping. Burbles and pops on the over run are nothing to worry about. A more restrictive system might cover up the sound so you'd never know it was happening. I'll post what I find out on my car though.

Enjoy those pops!

Apparently my popping on startup which was happening mostly through the exhaust, but also through the airbox on a couple occasions has been traced to the ignition coil arcing. Since I'm switching over to EFI, I don't want to flush money down the toilet, so my mechanic is replacing the plugs which are showing some corrosion and we're "letting it be" for now until the new system parts are all here.

The front valance is close to being installed- same with the front cooler. I'm debating whether to intall an aluminum splitter under the lip of the valance to protect the fiberglass from getting ground down from curbing etc.

Hi all, recent lurker over the past 2 months coming out. I've been looking at purchasing a 930 ('86-89) and have landed on one I believe fits the bill (stock with under 40k miles). Recently read Peter Zimmerman's "Used 911 Story" and am in need of recommendations for an LA area shop to conduct a PPI. If possible would like to keep it south of LAX and north of Orange County. BTW, I've owned an '85 & '87 911 but that was back in the late '80's and early 90's (then I got into racing motorcycles but that's another story..)
Thanks for any feedback and love the forum- Allen
