OK, who's the wiseguy that moved the right side valance mounts on the later cars?

Sure a good thing I didn't paint it yet.

My guess is that the cars with the oil cooler fans had the tab moved forward about 2-1/2 inches to accommodate the thickness of the fans.

Had to grind the tab off and first thing tomorrow I get to be the first guy to use the new welder I suckered my brother into splitting with me. See you then.

The second picture is the new Clubsport valance sitting upside down on top of my Carrera valance. Notice the tabs don't line up.

Hope the pictures aren't tooooo big.

So I got the itch today to shed a few pounds. Got on the internet and found a source for expanded aluminum and found an ebay seller that has sold almost 28,000 items that happens to not live too far away. I called and told her what I was up to and she said "come on over"...so for $25.00 cash I had myself the perfect diamond mesh.

Take a look:

Cut it to size then painted both sided with a matte black several times.

Taped off the surrounding area normally covered by the stock grill and painted it matte black and it didn't look right. Went back with flat black and it was ****.

Let it dry for a couple hours while I picked up two of my kids and my brother and went to get frozen yogurt.

Pulled the tape and put the mesh back in.

I will be making some support brackets from stips of aluminum that will hide the holes in the lid and make it a bit more purpose built.

All in all she will have lost about two pounds and pissed off lots of pucker butts.

Started on the brackets tonight. Was going to put them under the mesh, but then I did a pole and 100% of the people poled said leave them on top. Going with it. They will be black.

The brackets definitely finish it off.

Thanks Ed. I had to do something Porsche related. My kid's Honda broke a valve and I will spend all day tomorrow puting it back together. My Sister in law needs new O2 sensors on her Toyota. Now that the Chevy is dead I am working on everyone else's cars. I should have never shown off my tool box.

UPDATE:

Passenger's side flapper box will feed directly into the cabin and take a 90 degree turn where that footwell blower used to be. Footwell carpet is also deleted.

Driver's side flapper box will feet the windshield defrost vents.

Ducting is 2-1/2" dia CAT from Aircraft Spruce. Purchased 8' at something like $7.00/ft and have a ton of leftover. The "Y" is from Rockler, the woodworking place. It was just under $4.00 and was in the store as part of their dust collection system.

Yes, the fresh air box has also been deleted. The intake screen has received a layer of fiberglass and will be screwed back into place. Go ahead and crab. She's on a diet and you don't have to like it.

I'd have gone with orange stripes on the duct.

I have the orange for back at the engine fan and flapper boxes where the air is much hotter. By the time it is clear up in the front of the car it is much cooler.

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/pages/...ting/sceet.php SCAT, SCEET, (Orange) up to 550*

After a bit of testing today, the driver's side footwell blower may go back in. Not sure I've got the airflow for both passenger heat and windshield defrosting at the same time. Of course, I may not have had the flaps all the way open. We'll see.

...and Ed, We will be on Mission Bay for the next several days with our Hobie Cat 16.

Check this out....My very first Hobie Cat is for sale out in Riverside. I sold it a couple years after I found my current boat.

http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/boa/4574573489.html I talked to the guy and he would take $700 for it. Screaming deal.

I really meant from an aesthetic standpoint, I think orange would look cool.

Have fun on MB! Certainly summer weather, although we just got done having a nice thunder shower.
