Thumbs up

Don't you just love to build stuff!!?? Pretty cool.

It does seem (and not sure if it is because of the angle of the photo) that it could benefit from a seal around it, to make it look finished.

Any plans to just paint them to match??

Love the neatly finished/painted bumper strut and the new looking clamps and nuts... details, details....

That all came with the bumper and really started the fire to replace all the zinc everywhere.

The lights don't look odd or out of place in person. To look at them from any angle they look great. Jaime you know fiberglass and how much work it takes to make right. These parts required nothing of the sort. Paint to match didn't happen because it would not have matched. I did black rattle can then clear rattle can.

Do you need new lenses only or do you need new boxes too? I am thinking it's time to dig my boxes out and seeing if they really were all that bad or perhaps they could have been saved. The clay looking putty could be replaced with RTV a nice acid bath and fresh white zinc and the backs would be as good as new. I may be onto something.

I need to go back to look at them, but I put them on my list of things to replace... so they must be beyond repair. The complete assembly, not just the lens.

Let me dig them out again... at the time I did not know about chrome paint, nickel plating, etc (that 912 project is helping me learn a lot! )

Ya, where was this info seven years ago? Do you know how many little projects I am going to do over? At least now i am over my fear of doing damage to the car and don't have to pay retail for nuts and bolts that simply have cosmedic challenges.

Jaime, check your PM in a sec.

Hey Ed, I have located an '85 Targa that has almost everything Rudy needs to get back on the street. The '85 was slated for total tear down and parting out. It's a perfect match. We also have a line on a dolly for her. If that falls through, my brother bought me a new welder yesterday..... I'll just build her one if I have to. We are thinking of parking the two cars side by side and just taking a couple days off to do the build in one long blitz. May even make it a BBQ get together. If I get my way, Ruby will live to see another day sooner than expected.

Any time I click on a link and get a page that says 'Oops', I consider that a fail and move on....

Sounds like the perfect score!

Have not forgotten about you. 3/12 will be delivery day.

2 years and 2 weeks from Ed's delivery to me probably 5 miles (?) from your place........

Great that you found what I probably told 5 guys up here who wanted an entry level, rock solid 911 project. But as we know, there are dreamers and doers.

Well, I can't explain it either other than to say I've got some really cool friends.

Sanded, buffed, and polished the clear on the duck and slathered on the carnuba today.

Also put a final coat of resin on the splitter halves today. Thinking it's time to fit it to the car. Was actually entertaining the idea of leaving it without paint. The black bed-liner look is kinda cool.
