With my cab, I lower myself from a roof mounted harness that I get into from the apartment directly above the garage. My tenant is happy I've been gone for 7 weeks!

Funny you ask that question !!!

My MRI results were given to me today for my right knee. Surgery it is, then rehab and I will be a right leg first/under the wheel guy again.

Right now it looks like Frank the Tank (Will Ferrell, Old School) @ss in first grabbing the door sill and pillar on the way down. The 997 in contrast is much easier.

At 6"4' about 250lbs, I try to avoid as much @ss turning on 23 yr old leather as possible. My opinion is changing, as I think it will be cheaper and healthier to refinish the seats/bolster than stress the knee/back much longer.

My antique father-in-law (the same guy who polished the headlights) suggests you try silk pants and ArmorAll on the drivers seat; he's 6'2", 77 years old and is quick to jump in my p-car.

I sit on the seat with feet on the ground and then swing my feet in under the steering wheel. There is no way for me to get in otherwise. The only problem is extra wear on the door seAls if you drag your shoes over the seal. My drivers side seal is torn right where your shoes would rub as you swing your legs in or out of the car.

getting into our beloved 911's is one movement that has gotten difficult and really screws with my right shoulder- i used to get into my p-car like everyone else - right foot 1st, hold the windshield post and hop in - but then a few years ago that move bothered my right hip and knee.

i then progressed(or digressed)to going in head 1st and putting my right hand on the drivers far bolster/left hand on steering wheel, swung around quickly - sort of a jump in move so i still looked cool for the chicks.

that move didn't last long because my f_cking injured shoulder felt like it was being pulled out of the socket.

i now enter my p-car like an old man - head first with both hands on the seat then gently turn and awkwardly hitting my legs against the steering wheel trying to get them lower while positioning myself in the seat. i look like an old gymnast w/dimentia and my shoulder still feels like crap doing this move but no other way to do it.

what a freaking sign of age.

anyone else look as pathetic as i am getting into their cars???

Turn away from the car, and sit on the seat with both legs out the door on the ground. Bend your right knee, and draw your leg into the car, foot last . You should be facing the steering wheel now. Pull your left leg into the car.

The problem with this technique is that if you have seats with high side bolsters it does not work. The option that could work would be a quick release wheel.

I wonder if there is any threads like this on the Ferrari forum????? There should be. When we get a multi brand show and drive together. It's absolutely hilarious how bad people look getting in an out of their car. It's typically the Ferrari Corvette guys that blow the "cool factor" away when getting in an out of their cars. I am not saying its easy to get in and out of a sportscar when you are tall but these guys look like a bunch of monkeys rolling out of a Secrets box. No wonder you never see a lot of miles on a Ferrari. Ever wonder why a car with 18k miles is on its third owner?????? Hmmm, I have a theory and I involves DuPont selling more hip and knee replacements.

Hi Pete... I chose to forget the extensive list of muscle injuries due to "protection of the sacred German Leather"
