Here's a couple from my Corvette days. I've had a few that were garagemates to the "Porsche(s) Du Jour".

I have to say, both of these were a LOT more fun than the 996 I owned very briefly and the '01 Z06 Corvette I foolishly sold (no pic) was an awesome car.

A first gen. Stingray is an awesome car. One of the most important cars in history. Sexxy too.

I lusted after a '70 SS 454 for quite some time, then a Special Edition Z28 before getting back into Porsches. The problem was Porsches never leave your heart. They are very special cars because they work so well.

Well, there you go...comparing vintage Vettes to a 996. I used to trade my truck for my buddy's '67 years ago when he needed to move something. It was fun in a straight line.

Picking cars for other people is fun!

I'd have to say a 993 C4S would fit in nice for you, Ed. As you said, you already got the raw, elemental car. The 993 would be a great blend of modern GT with the soul of a Porsche. It's a long-term kind of car, and properly looked after, it will always be worth something.

Well, Ruby got her new little sister today....'07 E350 with 35K. A 1 owner MB CPO, sold by the same dealer that originally sold it, with full history, that is pretty much perfect. They even put new tires, pads and rotors in as part of the prep. All in all a good experience, and most importantly, a happy wife!

Congratulations to your wife Ed. She will absolutely love that car. Trust me on this one. I hate to steal your thunder on this one but if it is okay I will share some pictures of a car that I used to own.

Nice woot! We looked at one in that color too, it was a special edition for some cancer program(?) I have to take a pic of Deb's interior-similar to yours, and it has a matching wood wheel. It looks nice, but was $1500 on the sticker!

Doug: Your E350 suits your army!!! We don't have to transport offspring!

Ed, I think it IS the same color/wheels. You won't believe my story. You know how **** I am in keeping my cars in pristine shape. After 15 months of E3504matic ownership, I got bitten by the 911 bug in the version of the 997. That led to the (much to the disappointment of my wife and daughters) departure of my showroom perfect 13K mile E350 which went to a thrilled eventual owner for a steal. Even to this day he emails me to thank me on how appreciative he is on all the care his baby has received through me. My family (especially my kids) made the ultimate sacrifice to fulfill my (unlike many, not lifelong but instant) desire for Porsches. I then went into the slippery slope of Porsche ownership and it my life and bank balance (or lack thereof) has never been the same since that day.

Smooth delivery of power, ultra comfortable seats making a 4 hr drive seem like a 30 minute one, zero road noise ... I could go on and on what the positives were for my family but I fear that my kids may walk over to my bedroom right now and see this post on the E350.... and then I will surely be toast.
