Ruby never resented the 928.....in fact she tried harder to remind me she was the most fun to DRIVE. The 928 was specatcular transportation, however.

Don't need two cars....that's the point: Ruby fulfills the go out and tear it up Urge, which has me negating my perceived need for a GT3. I'm looking for the nice road car "with capabilities".

I'm out looking for the wife's Benz now, so I gotta get thru that first.

I've always liked the 993 TT. I won't say Panamera. That's not even funny!

I like the 993TT also; I'd like to find someone who doesn't... but thats a turbo. The C4S is kind of a turbo - a "turbo look" if you will. You'd have to get a set of hollow spoke twist for it though. The C4S had twists, but not the hollow spokes (they may have been an option IIRC). The 993 3.6 made right at 300hp - which is a lot if you think about it, and it's expensive to get much more out of them. It seems 300 is about all they are good for and the factory got it right from the get-go. I'm not sure whats available for them now and some may correct me on my assertion. It is a real good package right out the door is what I am saying. A TT is nice, but you are getting into GT3 territory and the connundrum starts over again. All the above will gobble up large amounts of road.
Ed, what kind of Benz are you looking at? Maybe we can cloud your decision on that also. Anything with a V8 is a good choice IMHO.

ooh, lots of Benzos to love. I forsee one in my future someday, but not soon. I'd feel old. Still, I admire them and I feel a bit of bling envy when I go to the dealer and see all the neat stuff. Benz is like a cult if you get into them.

ed, ruby looks simply outstanding.....& i think something like this would be perfect complement (mercedes, hand assembled by porsche).......(cut & paste from listing):

Rare opportunity to acquire a genuine factory widebody Mercedes 500E designed and hand-built by Porsche! This rare and very collectible sports sedan features a potent 322-hp 5.0L V8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission which is capable of hurling this "sleeper" Benz from 0-60 mph in only 6.1 seconds! Needless to say, Porsche also designed the 500E to outhandle and outbrake most supercars while still providing the everyday comfort, reliability, and practicality expected in a rock-solid German four door sedan. This immaculate autobahn stormer has covered only 135,000 km from new, comes complete with all books and service records from day one, and represents an amazing find for the discerning enthusiast! Clean, original 500E's like this one are getting harder and harder to find and are steadily appreciating in value. Call for more details.

SOLD

Porsche only did the fender flares IIRC. They are fast - I've experienced a few of them. Any V8 Benz sedan is a nice car.

Sorry to disappoint! She's probably getting a low mile '08 E350. Two seaters are off the list now, as she'll need a dog transporter again, I'm sure.

AMG wagon. I think you can get a V8 wagon now, E-class. The 350 is not a bad car though...my last trip to the dealer got me a C350 sport as a loner car. It did everything it was suposed to, but I just don't like V6s.

In the end, an E350 sedan is a fine choice. I think they are handsome cars.

Yes, I like the E's much better than the C's. I've a buddy who has an independent German auto shop and gives the E350 and S430 pretty high marks. He's plugged into the Benz computer network, so I'll probably have him check out what we hone in on.

Boy if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. LOL But, I'll continue this little side track.

The 1992-94 500E/E500 is cool. But, I really would like to have one of these Benzes in my "collection" some day. The 1969-1972 300SEL 6.3. The world's original Q-car.

Looks like your Grandpa's (maybe your dad's) Mercedes, but it's got a 400 lb-ft beast under the hood.

AMG even raced 'em. Imagine today's S-class in the German touring car championships.

And here's something you don't see every day.

Old benzs' are like early 911s. Many say the older the better, and I tend to agree. The 6.3 and 6.9 are monsters. I've had the pleasure of a few 6.3s and 6.9 under my tenure with Benz, even a 68 600 swb. You learn a lot being around those cars; they are the finest engineered cars in the world. the 600 series limos are considered the finest Pullman ever built to date, and many heads-of-state still use them. They are extravagant in every detail and so uncompromising. However, to get the same quality, all one needs to do is find an 83 300d/sd. Benz put every ounce of quality into those cars that they could(just not a "big block" V8). I could type for hours on the "other" German marque, but they simply must be experienced.

That's a repectable 1/4 for a distant cousin of the Panzer Tank.

Yep. Mechanical injection like an early 911. It's fun when they yank the front suspension to their bottom-stops and hold it there. A 560 SL (107) will do it also.
