I am very glad I rebuilt my motor. My engine turns on at 3k and quickly climbs.

The ping is no longer an issue. You can't hear a ping, but I will still need to get the 3.4 chip replacing the 3.2 Chip after I adjust the valves. www.911chips.com and Dyno next.

Is that your idle speed?

No actually it idles at 900. At 3k rpm and beyond climbs quickly. Going from 3.2 to 3.4 is a significant difference. Fun to drive glad I did it.

Good to hear. When it gets warmer, the ping may re-surface.

I was wondering if a 3.4 is supposed to idle faster than a 3.2, hence my question. I kind of knew what you meant but wanted clarificaction.

As you can see in my sig my car was also modified to a 3.4 and eversince I got the car, it has always idled ~1100 rpms. I was wondering if it was supposed to be that way. I haven't read otherwise but I might as well ask someone with a 3.4.

Actually when it was 3.2 it idled at 900 and also at 3.4 it idles at 900. I could be wrong, but I don't think 200cc's should make it idle any faster.

I never heard the Ping. Jeff at Aase said he heard it. I'm going to Dyno the car and re-chip it after 400 more miles.

A displacement increase would not increase idle speed.

Thanks...I was wondering if it needed to be tuned differently. Thanks again.

Finally Dyno'ed in at 222hp... I guess as someone said "Anemic" compared to a turbo. We finished the car the way we wanted to so now we can really enjoy it. STeve WOng came out and Dyno'ed my car flashed the 3.4 chip and now the rest is history.

A great, great, great, running car now. I would urge anyone to do it if they are thinking about it.

Excellent thread, and excellent photos! Thank-you for putting in the time to bring us along on your journey!

Do you have a list of all the parts you replaced/upgraded?

Nothing wrong with doing what you want. I like the drivability and the seemingly flatter tq curve in my new 3.4. I think that can be as important as outright HP in many cases.

Where did you dyno with Steve, and how long did it take? I've got to plan to do the same this summer.

we did it at Sergio's in La Habra. Steve came out and did 7 or 8 runs and then flashed the ship... Huge difference. I'm glad I moved up to the 3.4. One of the best moves I made with this car. I have a youtube picture of a dyno run.

Ed, I'm glad you got a chance to finish yours.

Any problems of any sort.

Also I have my old Steve Wong Chip for a 3.2 with SSI's or Headers.

Let me know if you know if anyone that wants it.

Thanks,
